Creeking in right rear shackle/leaf?..

these are my specs..

94 XJ 4.0 HO
31's 3 1/2" Rubicon Super Flex

..anyhow there is a creeking sound (kind of the sound like rubber on metal without grease..like it skips) when i go over almost any kind of angle with the right rear wheel.

i was told it was a bushing??

i checked RE's website..but don't see the bushing there...i mean my lift prob only has 4,ooo miles on it. Could it have been over torqued on install? or just worn out already!??

wondering if something similar had happen to someone else or if anyone could point me in the right direction to getting this noise fixed.

cheers.

Did you do the final tightening of your bolts with jeep on the ground with weight on the wheels? If not you may have a bushing binding...

Something else to check, on mine the tailpipe rubs on the spring when the right tire goes over a bump. If not, it's a bushing. Loosen the spring mounting bolts at the front hanger and rear shackle a little, drive around for a day, and tighten them back up. It might help if they are binding. Maybe.

I have the same tailpipe rubbing issue. It was really bad after I broke the exhaust clamp at WF. Last week I got around to fixing the clamp and twisting the exhaust back into place. No more noise :)

If this does appear to be the issue, good chance the bushing is just twisted. Loosen the bolts and straighten it out. Or if you paid to have someone do this for you, take it back and have them check it out. Any good shop should stand behind their work

they did check it out but couldn't fix it or find the problem..TWICE

so loosen the bolts with the jeep off the ground or not lifted up?

The bolts should be tightened with the vehicle sitting on the tires, with the weight of the vehicle on them. Crawl under your jeep and have someone bounce on the back end to see if you can isolate where the noise is coming from. Also watch the movement in the shackles. If you see how much they move, you'll understand how one can bind if torqued down with no weight on the jeep. Also look for anything else which might be binding. Exhaust, sway bar, shocks, etc. anything with a rubber bushing. Good luck!

Didnt read all of the above, but like I saw tighten all bolts when weight is on the axles. And pull off the shackles and lightly sand the smooth parts of the bolts and grease them and also the inside of the axles. Then grease up where the bushings sit against the chassis in the shackle bucket. Had this problem a couple of times.... takes only a couple of mins or ten to do.

I had/have a similar problem. I would have sworn it was bushing related. I finally was getting fed up so I just tried tightening everything to see if I could change the sound any. When I got to the U-bolts, I found they weren't real tight. I snugged them up and it was quiet. Now before and after every trail ride, I make sure they are tight. They don't like to stay tight. I have to put a jam nut on them but just haven't done it.

Try your U-bolts.

X2 on all the above. Great advice. Was probably in your instructions if you got any. If you didn't then I guess thats why you ended up with this problem, but Porn has the correct solution. I liked saying that!!!
