I've been looking for a decent NH club for years, and have yet to find a good, low-pressure, family oriented club in our state. The kind of club that has larger group runs, but also is open to a couple of friends getting away for a day or weekend to 'wheel. I just headed over to the exnh site and did some quick checking through their forums, and they seem like the "these are OUR trails, not yours, so you have to as OUR permission and kiss OUR butts to 'wheel" types. If I'm wrong, please let me know, but that was the impression I got. Especially when I read the rules about not being allowed to post trail names and locations.
I had trouble with a couple of southern NH clubs several years ago, when I had permission from landowners to use several local sw NH trails around my old hometown. These clubs came in and tried to tell me I was running illegal trails, and I could only 'wheel them with a club, etc. A couple of those trails I've been 'wheeling with my family since long before the clubs existed, and know many of the landowners on a personal basis. Anyway, I'm getting off on a club politics rant...sorry for that.
Because of the lack of laid-back family oriented clubs up here, I've actually resorted to 'wheeling out of state more than in state. instead of hitting local trails every couple of weekends (or even after work in the evenings, etc.), I've resorted to hooking up with an XJ group down south, and have been to a few awesome places in Kentucky. Now THERE is some 'wheeling!

That is the wrong attitude, the club restricts the names of the trails to the general forum to keep "everyone and the sixth cousin" from coming on the site, touting the exploring nh name and tearing up private property.
They have some private land access, do trail cleanups, and do a lot of wheeling. When I first joined I didn't have access to trail names or anything of the sort. Basically they want to keep a network of responsible wheelers, not people who will help the anti-off road activists get land shut down. Once you go on a run with some of the guys and/or girls they will get to know you and be more than willing to share some infor with you.
Another thing about posting the trail names; it's a public forum, so the trail names would show up on search engines. The trail names are given in PM's or in the mapping section, which is restriced access.... again, until they get to know you.
It's all about being responsible and putting a good name out there for the off roading community.
Once you get past the "they won't tell me trail names right away" part, you'll find a great group of people, many wheel with their kids and wives/ husbands. Both myself and my brother take our families on some of our wheeling trips...very family oriented and friendly.
I hope this helps. Check it out again, sign up and take a look around- the only thing you have to lose is a few minutes of your time.

its not realy that way, we dint say names of trails on an open forum because we dont want joe public goin out there and screwing them up for us.
c'mon over and go on a run with us its a lot of fun.
