i searched but found nothing(steering box)

My buddy has an 89 xj on 35's with an AGR box and hydro assist, and hates it because of how loose his steering is. we tightened the box and everything else is tight but he is anal about his steering wheel moving 1/8 turn side to side. so... what would be a good upgrade (downgrade for him) to push 35's non hydro assist? zj box, durango box?

1/8" side to side????
Are all the tre's good....ball joints good?
Does he have a steering box brace?

no brace everything is brand new (heims, locking hubs, ball joints, box, hydro ram)
