Tube bender should be here shortly, going to help somebody build a cage for a TJ and then its mine for some jungle gym work. We go wheeling quite a bit in Little River/Academy, got some decent stuff out there on some private land.

Later this week I am picking up 200' of tubing and I plan on using about 120' of that on a hybrid roof halo and inner cage as well as tube fenders in rear, bumpers, and I am sure some other stuff. Havent had a chance to flex it yet, will be doing that later before I build the shock hoops, I have some 10", 12", and 14" shocks, one of those combos is going to work.

A little of both. I was told the RE springs (full leafs - it needed them; it spent most of it's life in Detroit) in the back would make it sit higher. I put 3/4" spacers in the front to help, but it needs some weight in the back. Here's a better pic.

Love the MTR's, surprisinlgly quiteter than I expected. They have a bumpy feel to them when you first accelerate, then pick up a hum around 35-40 mph, but after that 40 they really quiet down. I have had them up to 70 and they were still quiet. Haven't gone off-road with them yet.

It's an RE 3.5" superflex lift, running 31's. The Jeep is a 2k sport (92k miles and I have owned it since 27k), with and 8.25 29 spline rear (now with disc brakes and while I was pulling axles put in an Aussie).
It looks a little prettier in pics than in person. The paint is starting to go, and some rust starting to show from the years in Michigan winters. I hate salt.

thanks im sure its never even seen a dirt road. and there new to the XJ, i've ran those 30's on both of my previous XJs. they still have 60%+ tread left, i wonder what lasts longer tires or jeeps in my hands :rolleyes:

I used to drive up every Monday and home every Friday from Little Rock. I really enjoyed my time there. Lots of fun stuff for the family to do when I was working.
After the wreck I won't be going back until Jan at the earliest and that's if my assignment is still available.

I am an Expeditor for a company in Houston. My job in L/R was to make sure the right amount of pipe was being loaded on railcars. The assignment was south of the airport right off of the Arkansas River and I stayed in NLR at the Marriott off of IH 40.
I really miss my time there. I used to go the the Whole Hog at least once a week. I would also go to the movies over near 430 and Breckenridge. Now I sit at home and get excited about getting to get out and go to Wal-Mart. I am so looking forward to healing and being able to get around under my own steam!

They are big...... Our 4 door jk on a 2.5 inch lift with 35's makes my xj on 6 inch lift ad 35's look tiny.

Thanks. I'll give you first shot if i sell them. I just upgraded to 38's, i'm curious how the front is going to hold up. Its a HP 44 with alloys BTW.

Thought I would throw mine up, now that I am Red. Just another 4.5 lift 01 with stock running gear til the end of the winter. Then the hp 30, dana 44, 4.56 gears and lockers go in + another 1.5 of lift. These pics have been posted on some other forums so not much new. Need to go wheeling again and get more pics.

Thanks guys! It changed constantly for about 2 months; new flares, rear bumper/ tire carrier, and sliders. The wifey started begging for attention, so I gotta slow down for now, but like I said, acquiring stuff to be added this winter. D44 and hpD30 in garage with acos and hd shackle relocation. Hopefully long arms coming soon too. Flares were made by an naxja member. His name is Doug and the thread is in the modified section.

It's not pretty, but it's mine, and more importantly....IT'S PAID FOR! I'm SO glad i don't have payments anymore. I don't think I'm ever going to buy a newer car again. I would rather spend $400 a month fixing up an older jeep/truck/car, then spend it on a payment, PLUS full coverage insurance.

I am looking to go lower and keep the tires. so if you have imput on the smallest lift I can have and keep the tires let me know. and i picked this thing up for real cheap so it needs a little work but not much.

Hey man it would be great to have you down for ROM!! I am probably going to hit that Event in June at SMORR as well. Looks like Clayton is about 3 hours, and Disney is around 5 hours from me. I could probably swing Clayton just about any weekend you were willing to show me around up there. As far as Disney, it will probably have to wait until Hannah is out of school, so maybe this summer.

first pic in the dirt for over a year. Megarun x. Went well i guess. I think I was kinda easy on it though. tore a tranny line, electrical problems no lights hissing battery, spindle nut came loose cause lug nuts to back off and ruin my h2 wheel.

Hehe...can't wait to see yours. Mine isn't quite that clean anymore. Picked up some pretty good scratches now that it is actually being used on trails. Got a gas tank skid and TC skid on order, so it will probably will be getting uglier. :gee:

Here it is...just finished the lift last night and got it alligned today. Tires go on Saturday, and the JCR's go on next week along with the 1/4 armor and winch. Can't wait.

I usually get a few questions about the bumpers. Front bumper my drawing, DETOURS (www.detoursusa.com) designed and built. Rear bumper is a Rough Cut Slimline with Tire carrier also from DETOURS.

And YES it gets dirty, even muddy! :D

picked it up from an old like 60 year old lady who has had it for the past 15 years. its never seen dirt, and she said its been in 4wd maybe 5 times. after a good cleaning it looks brand new minus clear coat on the hood peeling, a few scratches on the right rear, and a couple holes in the headliner

Yeah I love the rockers but you wouldn't think it was such a good job if you could see the welds closer. I did the drivers side with my mig. My dad was using stick and yeah, that sheet metal is thin.

Yes, early flares. Not sure why but they look ok so they'll ride till I decide otherwise. The previous owner also took all the carpet out and started to put bedliner in. I haven't decided if I'll finish that job or just put carpet back in.

So far my mods have been few. I put a Texas flag up for the headliner, added a CB overhead, and an amp for the radio (still sucks). Fixes have been to add a back seat, full brake job and some little junk.

Fixes still to be done before the fun starts are:
multi-function switch
tune up
new front end bushings (maybe)

Cheap stuff to be done (in order):
wheel spacers
hood vents
trailer hitch
DIY roof rack

Later:
more lift
armor
better tires
rear tire carrier

Dad has been driving it for the last 2.5yrs in houston where all the paint has oxidized/peeled, the rust has increased 10x and it has kinda fallen apart. Still, got 20mpg on the way home form Houston at 75mph....Now back to stock 235's for a short while....looking into rust repair to see if it is saveable...needs full rockers, probaly floor panels x4, roof line work, etc....I hate rust!!!!

yea, I do like the XJ platform....I so wanna build a JeepSpeed XJ....I think this one is to far gone though to save....I know I can get new floor pans and rocker panels to replace the rusted stuff but I don't have enough experience with rusted vehicles to know if this one is savable or not...found out today after I washed it that is has a LSD in the rear....nailed the throttle and it went about 4ft sideways.... :)

Ha, yeah. I actually swapped the lights over from my 99 as soon as i took off the tinted ones...I couldnt wait to see the new look. That sucks... I drove about 1000mi with them on mine without any hassleing ...sounds like i was lucky :-D
