hello folks, can someone help me figure out how the motor mount bracket (unibody side) is fastened onto the unibody? are there bolts on the other side i have to get a grip on to tighten them? i wont see my xj for a few days and want to know what to do when i get my one day a week to work on it. my wife is real strict on my days off.

as for a description of this mount thing, its got 2 or 3 bolts facing the motor. its the piece the drivers side motor mount gets bolted onto. problem is, i dont know if this bracket is threaded directly into the unibody or are there bolts hidden in the body behind my crusty's trackbar mount somewhere in the frame where i would need to hold while turning them.

i have a chiltons manual but their picture is so blurry and crappy i dont know what is what in there. looks like my 3 year old son drew it!

thanks for any help in advance!

you all have a good night!

IIRC, on an '88 the nuts are welded to the inside on the unibody. You shouldn't need to hold the nuts from turning, but the bolts are the large Torx head type and a bit of a pain to get at. If you are replacing the mounts it seems that most of the NAXJA regulars like the MORE motor mounts. I went with the Rusty's ones and haven't had any problems. Good Luck
