Does your 98 have the full-length rails, or the half-length ones that end somewhere over the rear door?
Makes me wonder what the difference may be, but I'm not curious enough to check their site ;)

I don't see why it wouldn't. The Cherokee didn'y change that much in 1997.

The roof rack attachment system, from the cross-bars to the roof mounted bars is different between those years.
One uses a thumbscrew type tightener for adjustment, while the newer ones use a pushbutton adjuster, the slides on arail, rather than in a track.

Conferr racks attach to the rails?
My bad then, I was thinking they were either gutter mounted or replaced the rails (remove rails, screw rack in place of them).

Best thing to do is call Conferr. I had to call and tell them what rack I got off ebay and they hooked me up with the right mounting brackets.
