anyone move coolant sensor to inline?

I am thinking of installing an inline adaptor to make testing and replacement of coolant sensor easier.
Found them from $19.95 up a few places.
If I were to pinch off the top hose before and after, could this be done without air problems and fluid loss?
Anyone done this mod?
I don't care that the thermostat has to open for flow at that spot.

I'm sure you could get a sleeve with a threaded bung, but why? If you're quick and careful, you can replace the one in the thermostat housing without losing too much coolant...

sorry my fault - '88 Cherokee (none in thermo housing)
I would rather not disturb the OEM thermo and housing to upgrade that.
I have cracked one in the past due to stupidity...

Oh.

There are three sensors in your 88 - which one are you moving?

The one that drives the gage/lamp is in the cylinder head at the back (easy enough to change without draining...)

The one for the ECU is under the exhaust manifold.

The one for the fan (thermal fan switch) is in the radiator, driver's side.
