I'll be in the area the weekend of Aug. 10th. Where is a good place to stay near Ft. Jackson? Any recommendations? Any place to stay away from?

Thanks guys!

What is your definition of good? I live right out one of the gates near Devine St so I know the area well.

Won't be there long. Just long enough for family day and graduation.

Someone graduating from the base I assume? I just thought I would see how long in case you had time for a brew or two.

Yes, my little brother is graduating. I'll have my daughter with me too. Not sure if I'll have time or not. Details are still sketchy at this point. Not sure who all is going with us.

Glenn,

Just let me know when you'd like to return the backhoe I let you borrow. I need to dig a swimming pool out, and from the sounds of your project it should'nt take you too long to get it done.

I'll not have a need for a backhoe while I'm there. Thanks for the offer though.:D

Last chance! Any recommendations on a place to stay? Making reservations tomorrow!
Needs to be clean and not in the ghetto. Prefer a pool for the kiddies, but not entirely necessary.
Help me out here guys!

There is a nice Holiday inn downtown and walking distance to lots of place for food. Not too far from the base.

Thanks to your outpouring of help guys.
Looks like I'll be at the Days Inn, 2 miles from Ft. Jackson.
I asked, and this particular Days Inn has complimentary backhoe parking. So, if the need arrises, I'm good to go.

There actually arent too many on here from SC and specifically Columbia. I would assume the HI was too far or something?

We're 2 miles from FJ, and right off the interstate, with several places to eat nearby. Just worked out that way. We should roll in late on the 8th and leave the 11th early AM.

11 hours of listening to princess DVD movies.......I can't wait.:roflmao:

No, I understand.:wow:
Just my luck lately has something to be desired.
I ask and ask and get no response.
Finally make reservations and then.."lock your doors".
Next, I'll show up and the hotel has burnt down or something.

Haha, I have a lot of Family on the Lexington/ Congaree side and I know it well enough, Not Jackson side though.. been to the PX a few times.

If you get a chance... drive thru USC campus... the "sights" are well worth it

Thanks for the heads up on the scenery. Looks like wifie is going now so, that particular flavor of sight seeing probably won't happen.

I had a slight issue with the van yesterday.
I made a call to Capitol Chevrolet. They were great! Top notch people and service.
They took care of me and sent me on my way. I would highly recommend their service Dept. I'm sure the rest of the dealership is great too, but I didn't deal with them.

Yup, I'm at Love Chevrolet in Cayce protecting the Jeep forums and Myspace from iminent destruction. Not to mention making sure all the instant messenger programs work from 7:30am to 6pm. I'm out in the service lane sweatin' my ass off pushin' paper. It's a tough job but someone's gotta do it.

ZacSquatch, I'm from Lexington myself. Went to all Lexington schools and graduated there in '90. That's my old stomping grounds. lol. Now I reside right downtown Columbia near USC where the scenary is "good". Ask Ghost, I know the seediest and cheapest places to booze it up and look at hot sorority girls.:D

If anyone's in the area look me up, I'm easy to find.
