air intake idea

i recently saw MADXJ's writeup for making a deep water intake where he runs the hose through the firewall so air comes in under the wipers. i was wondering about doing this but also leaving the stock opening in the airbox. i don't take my xj in any deep water. what is everybody's thoughts on this. it seems to me you would get more air coming in, and it would also be colder. or would it not work because air is coming in from opposite sides at the same time.

Trust me block the stock intake hole see RIP GermanXJ. I blew the crap outa mine. The extra air wont make a difference because you still only have the one intake tube.
