Hi Folks, I am a new member and I am thrilled to be a Naxja member. I am 33, married and I have a 1993 POS XJ that has a 4.5" lift, Rusty's crap, a crappy trackbar, crappy swamper SSR's. Its nasty dark green. Its a real POS by the way.
I work on it until my wife yells at me or threatens to toss my tools in the garbage can. I only have a pair of pliers, some duct tape and one phillips screwdriver. All of my tools are from the flea market.
I dont have a lot of money so i buy craftsman tools form the flea market and then take them to sears for new ones.
I do all of my own work which is real scary and I like to strip threads and rebuild them with JB weld.
I also like to go fishing as well. So yep, working on my car and fishing, both hobbies I have my wife hates.
I am happy and proud to be a new member of NAXJA.
Thanks,
John

man, should you be so fortunate! was it my old VW rabbit? it was poop brown metallic and had a dookie air freshner sittin on the back seat? i think my dog left that there.
that was my old car, i remember driving down to baja in it sweatin my nuts off . people were all pointin fingers at me driving down I-5 as I got to the grapevine just north of LA where the damn thing kept overheatin.
now that i have this POS XJ i am much happier to have a car with AC. my first one. i could not be happier.
I originally bought it from a guy in san francisco who said his girlfriend drove it on trips with her friends. I was like "uh oh". but all was well. all that it needed really was some TCase work.

As soon as I can get that 30.00 sidelined from my wife's checking acoXXXX I'll be red. I hope I cna do that soon since this forum sure has a lot of good tips and ideas. I like reading about all the cool stuff people make and do to their cherokees.
I also remember some funny stuff i read about a fool in So Cal who rolled his junky gay white jeep and after every frickin thing he typed he said "ha ha...." what a jackass.
although I am not a member I was gettin pretty annoyed with him. someone called his exhaust tip a "piss can" and i thought that was funny. that thing was as big as a frickin Folgers can.

i have been doing this since i went to school in fresno. on the weekends when everyone was waking up from a night of drinking i was out downtown with my dollar bills scoping out the latest and greatest flea markets on jensen street. along side the booths that sold the live chickens and pigs i would often find craftsman tools. although a bit rusty i always got new ones from sears when i brought em in.
the nicest thing i sourced from the flea market was a 1/2 inch old style craftsman ratchet. it finally broke but i got a new one form sears.
the weird part of all this is that often these folks would be shaking and missing teeths, lookin pretty skinny. they looked pretty hungry so i felt good buying stuff from them so they can eat.
once i got in an argument with my friend because i wanted to look for old tools and he needed to get downtown for his haircut at Mr Fro's. We broke up that day, he pissed me off. You can't rush a man lookin for tools. They are not all created equal.
