There's a few stations that sell E-85 at around $.50 a gallon less, and not a whole lot more expensive than diesel.

SO, whats your point, when has reality ever had an effect on speculators, their stock in trade is rumour, innuendo and guesswork. :D

It's cheaper here....for now. Expect it to go up come mid summer though.

And it doesn't matter where it hits......A hurricane could hit Antartica and they'd still find a way to jack up the price of gas

Totally true. Asian oil went up $2/bbl when the storm was still a day out.

However in this case there will probably be physical effects. The Strait of Hormuz is probably closed, despite public statements to the contrary, and could be for almost a week. Considering almost 20 million barrels of oil a day are supposed to move through it, you can be sure it will be felt at the pump, even though the news media still isn't giving it any attention.

That doesn't consider Omani oil infrastructure damage, which can also add a bit to the price tag, or even to the availability depending on the extent.

Since it would be in tankers en route, the oil not coming out today won't actually be "missing" from the gas stations for another month or so, but once it is known that a shortage is coming, you can expect prices to jump in the near term.

I like the legend:

branches rustling
trees swaying
trees breaking

WHAT TREES!?!? There ain't no trees there :D How are they going to know how bad it really is with no trees?

Ramsey

No matter how high gas prices get, I'd rather walk than buy CITGO gas!

Check it out http://citgoboycott.org/ (http://citgoboycott.org/)

If where you live is anything like around here, you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a gas station. Surely you have options.

Hugo Chavez is a dictator who opresses his people. CITGO is owned by the Venezuelan government. Therefore, if you buy CITGO gas, you're contributing to his leftist regime.

So, only people like us should be supported by our oil demands??

Oh yeah, that is why we buy from the ME, and Mexico, and nigeria....right...I get it.

Problem is, CITGO not only supplies their franchisees, but other stations too. Then at nearly $3.50 a gallon for the cheapest stuff, not everybody can afford to be so choosey.

How much cheaper can it be?? 3 or 5 cents a gallon? If it keeps money out of the hands of someone who calls America a "menace to the world", wouldn't it be worth the extra buck or two?

I have two kids in daycare. Believe me, I can't afford to be choosey about a lot of things (I drive a $1700 beat up Cherokee for pete's sake), but I'll be choosey about whether or not I give my money to a maniac like Hugo Chavez.

Nothing's more important than cheap gas, huh?

that's the thing that cracks me up around here. doesn't matter what oil company makes the gas, what brand of gas it is,ALL gas stations in this town sell gas for the SAME price. go figure. I guess they all want to get in on the screw everybody over job that the oil companies are doing

I paid $2.79 today. It seems to be cheaper here in New Jersey than the other states.

If it's cheaper and on the way I'm going anyway......... Plus since more than just Citgo sells their fuel, it'll go back to them anyway.
