Lets do glamis! im pretty open on dates, im thinking maybe end of july, early august? i usually only go on the big holidays because i like to watch people be stupid, but i dont mind heading out there for an XJ weekend, or maybe a couple days during the week? spend those vacation days you've been saving up! have some fun! we're going to need at least 10 people or so, without a nice group the sheer size of the dunes is scary :D

im getting a little veclempt, talk amongst yourselves. here i'll give you a topic. glamis is neither close to most of us, or famous for its rock crawling, so when are we going? :D

well i always go for thanksgiving weekend but people are usually anti glamis for the holidays, i think its fun im not afraid of a little heat, hell i enjoy it.

I have 2 acres at home here and plenty of room for RV parking. I am 20 minutes from cleghorn and 20 minutes from El Mirage dry lake. If Glamis is too far far or hot.

Hmmmm....where to start?

Okay, summer trips to the dunes are not out of the question.
I have done it a few times. The deal is that you go on a full moon.
We get out to the dunes around sundown. Drive all night, then drive home.
Or if I bring the RV, we might get a couple of hours sleep in the air conditioning before we head home. But for me, home is little more than an hour away. :D
August is sometimes the best bet. If you are lucky and get out there after a good thunder storm the sand is wet and much better for a heavy Jeep.
Although kinda' humid.

I also found this one. For those of you that wondered about the nice flat surface on my rack. Its for watching the sand drags out at Gordon's Well.

Gotta agree. I love Glamis, but its hot enough out there in Feb, I couldn't imagine it in July or August!

They freaked out when I drove my YJ over the table top from the side and on to a old rusted out car,(think monster jam freestyle) I can only imagine what a bunch of knuckel heads would find to do. By the way Ill donate a car :yap:

My buddy in the Army just got sent over.I have heard about some perty good dunes in Iraq...but they have probably never seen glamis.

After re-reading my post...I'm thinking I might have insulted all the Army, Navy, National Guard, Air Force people out there...NOT INTENDED!!

My normal sand dune going crew and I got together recently and had decided to take this season off.
Kinda' wanting to spend thier vacation time on something other than going out to Gordon's Well. I agreed mostly due to my desire to go to Goatfest.
That event is also in November and I wanted to spend an entire week there.
But then I got a call yesterday, one of my buds just bought a Subaru engine for his buggie...I know that we will need to 'test' it this year!
But, I'm down for a SoCal Chapter event in the dunes. I'm not thinking I'll have an oppertunity to do it this summer though....

Im in let me know what weekend? I have a few dirtbikes and quads to take.Plus I want to race our 110HP Banshee up Oll's and Comp.Ive had it done for a year now. And she's still a virgin to the sand! So lets go.

wellllll.... im going thanksgiving weekend for sure. we always go down thursday night after dinner and leave sunday morn around 9am.

if glamis is too far i'd be up for a weekend of playtime at dans place before then, i would love to drive over a rusty car :D maybe come up some friday night and leave sunday sometime? when is good for you dan?

i need my sand fix and azusa isnt doin it for me :D:D

the best part was the idiot tried to spend them at the bar, with shit written all over em and staple holes in the corners :roflmao: being the upstanding citizen i am i grabbed him and said "wharudoonyousonnabish" slurring my ass off mainly pissed because one of the dollars in his hand i had put on the wall about 10 mins before then, and dragged him off into the dark. the rangers got there about ten mins later :D

it gets hot out there but its not unbearable, remember its the desert there aint much in the way of humidity most of the time :D as long as you have enough water/beer you should be fine.

ok so if we do it labor day weekend whos in? i might be able to get a couple non xj buddies to come out as well, i'll call them this weekend.

so how bout this:

meet up down there the night of august 31st (friday), set up camp and such have some fire :D , play saturday and sunday and head home sunday night? whos in for those dates?

Damn-it Josh..... I wanted to drop the valedictorian line.....

Actually I was in Glamis today.... it was a ghost town.... a windy ghost town.
I went down to run a section of the canal with a co-worker who had never been so we ran up to the Osbourne Overlook then back to the canal.

No dune running... hard to explain why you need a tow in the dunes.... 5 miles
from the nearest stretch of water......
