I've decided to wisely use my 7000th post to review my trip to Rockport yesterday in anticipation of CarnageFest to be held there at the end of August.

Lots of twisty wooded trails, akin to Red Bird, but not as sloppy, and there are fun climbs for all skill levels. It dries out very quickly after wet weather, with only a few mudholes in the creek bottoms. Speaking of these creek bottoms, there are several trails that follow these tight v-notches, and depending upon driver skill and available traction, one can easily wind up flopping against a dirt wall. "Twister" is a particular one that comes to mind.

"Tall Dog," the rock course, looks challenging, and from what I was told all the work going on at Hannibal Rocks is resulting in some amazing rock crawling opportunities, with options for all skill levels also.

Onsite camping will be convenient, and there are all sorts of amenities (fuel, convenience stores, restaurants, etc.) 10 minutes away in nearby Louisianna, MO.

We were wheeling, did the entire park in one day, no time for pics. Imagine trees, hills, dirt, mud, and Jeeps.

I should have gotten a pic of my MJ flopped against a dirt embankment in a creek bottom, billowing white smoke.

I was there a few weeks ago.
As I understand it, the back 40 is now closed.
so I spent most of my time on the back 40.
I have 31's - I had to deal with a lot of ruts that
were more suited for 33's and 35's
how is the front 40?

The back 40 is closed, I never got a chance to see it. The front 40 is doable on 31's with regard to ruts and such, but there are some trails where you need more ground clearance... nothing a good set of rocker rails and an occasional tug can't fix.

It depends on the weather. Some places like the creekbed in Wolves Den can be seemingly bottomless in wet weather but quite tame when thoroughly dry.
