We had one go through yesterday that raised my pool level 3". I think I'd better drain the pool a bit before I worry about the grass. Which reminds me: I need to get up on the roof and re-seal the drier vent.

I finally said "screw it" and left ruts in the yard. It had been one week and the grass grew 6" you have to cut twice a week here now if you want to maintain a halfway civilized look.

Don't come here looking for excuses to not fire up that briggs and stratton, honda or whatever. Cut it and get it over with.
Me, I have a valid excuse, mine blew up yesterday while I was trying to cut the jungle that grew up over the last 3 weeks, so now I have a choice, new mower or deep sea fishing, mower, fishing, hmm, guess I'll wait till the fall sales on mowers start...

With one crisis and another it's coming on two weeks for me. And me with only a 6hp Craftsman push mower. It's taller than the mower now. Always fun.

I didn't even realize it was coming down that hard yesterday until I looked at the pool and it was neary over the top. Of course, stuff blowing up in Harris County don't mean much in Walker County.

I guess I'll focus on fixing the vent leak first.

Wait a couple more weeks and you'll have three choices: mow, deep sea fishing, safari hunt :)

That BS* motor keeps on running, although I wish they'd give me more control over it. There isn't even a throttle or choke handle. Just a primer bulb and the governor. The other day the primer bulb cracked and fell off. Now, just a thimble of gas down the primer hole and the thing runs great. I wish it would die: I'd like a new one. I keep telling everyone how sweet the John Deere Z-Trak is at the chruch but the wife keeps saying, "You're not getting one so deal with the one you've got." OTOH, she wants a new dryer.

Lets make a poll - which will come first: a.$250 dryer, or b. $6,000 Z-Trak? I did see that Home Depot has reconditioned self-propelled Toro's for $150.

*That's BS for BullSh##. The motor is actually a Techumsa. Not that there's any difference.

There's a fourth choice, wait till Oct and just spread the leaves out and light em.. I live in the woods so the only grass I have is over the septic field and along the corner edges of my property on the road...

such problems...... I had a 12 horse Crapsman tractor with a B&S motor on it, I had to seize the thing up 4 times to finally burn it out, even working at it it was hard to do. Earlier this spring our grass here was growing that way,had to cut once a week or it would get to be a foot tall... I wait now until it gets to be about 5" or so, then cut, it lasts about 2 weeks at this point....

I don't know about all that stuff. I planted one of dem dare rock gardens in my front yard and no matter how much I water it, I can't get it to grow. And I bought a brand new lawn mower for it and haven't had a chance to use it yet.

It grows faster if you cut it. Go ahead and set the blades down real low and get after it. How much glass do you have on the front of your house?

Well the rain amounted to about 1.5" but we ended up taking our little girl back to the doctor for a persistent sinus/ear infection so I never got a chance to mowing, anyway. More's the pity. Now the sun's out I'm just not in the mood. I got to get on the roof and fix that leak, though.

This is what's coming today. Yeeha.

Hope she's better, might want to get an a/c unit to get rid of the humidity and cut down on mold growth, thats one sure thing that causes sinus problems. As for the roof, did that 3 years ago, new architectual shingles and new opening skylights. That was the easy part, then came the stains from the leaky roof and the fancy recessed skylight bays on the 2 1/2 story tall great room ceiling. Four gallons of that stain cover sealer/primer on the ceiling AFTER the nail pops, spackling, took about 2 weeks to do that room, OTOH I got real good with a paintbrush on-a-stick for those corners that were just 3 or 4 feet too far and my 'I'm NOT moving that scaffold again just for that one spot' attitude.... just get me a longer stick....

We got A/C. Put in a 4 ton/ 14 seer Trane 'bout a year-n-half ago. Still paying off the folks for the loan. The leak is just the flashing around the dryer vent. Our list of projects is way too long to be having a 6-month old girl with bad ears in the house. Can't get nothing done but sit in a chair and hold her :)

The sinus/ears number is a structural issue with the angle and size of the eustacian tubes. Any inflamation from a cold virus blocks off the ears and sets them up for secondary infections. Both the boys went through it. The oldest still has tubes at 10yo. The resistance of the bacterial strains is starting to get a bit scary though. This one survived Omnicef so we're back to Augmentin. About the only thing that works now days is Zithromax.

My son had sinus surgery when he was about 8, fixed alot of issues from his alergies so they didn't go straight to an infection, now he just hacks alot when something gets to him. Wife had it done too when she was 25 or so, again it solved some problems, all in all it did solve the problem of it going straight to the ears..

Ya I went through at as a kid till about 10-11 years old. It really is a pain, but having a good parent around always makes things better.
