i have done the mod to lock the trany in 2nd gear like described on the gojeep page on my 1997 Cherokee. The "check engine" light does not come up. (http://www.go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoAutoSwitch.htm)
Well - it works - it stays in 2nd gear with lever in 1/2 position.
My problem occurs when going back to D position and turned of lock switch. The trany behaves strange then, it does not switch in to 1st or 2nd gear i think. When accelerating after a stop the jeep moves slow like driving in 3rd gear.
Manualy i can switch to 1/2 and it goes in to 1st gear. But not in D or 3 position.
I have to turn the engine off and on again, then everything is okay again.
Any ideas? Is there some sort of "emergency program" in the TCU ...?? Do i need a reset buton in my Jeep :laugh:
