I had one yesterday! Some friends of mine and I had planned on wheeling a good majority of the day. First up, do some work on a friends MJ everything it needed went on as planned. Next Up, adjusted brakes on another XJ all went well. Next, friend rolls in driving his tube jeep and the motor sounds nasty, we check it out and decide to wheel it as he has another motor ready to go. Next, XJ waggy comes in with brakes dragging, replace caliper find unit bearing is bad swap it all...same problem other side. Replace Caliper and unit bearing jeep still has bad brake drag so we left it, already 4 hours behind schedule.
Now, we head across town to meet up with a few more people to hit the trail. In the 15 mile trip the XJ with the weak motor goes ahead and dies, at least it made to its destination. THEN another XJ loses the alternator so we swap it out. At this point a friend of mine that has a CJ is loving it, he is normally the one with all the trouble not the XJs.
Five hours behind schedule we hit the trail. Its quicker to sum it up this way.
89 XJ overheating, re-wire electric fan to his rock light switch and it works fine.
CJ7 loses the clutch linkage, then a motor mount, then clutch linkage and a front driveshaft.
97 XJ(mine) return side power steering hose.
This was all in about 3 hours so we called it off and went home lol. Started the day with 7 jeeps ended up on the trail with 5 of which 3 had trouble. The only one to have no trouble was the MJ which hadn't been driven in 6 months prior to this.
