WTFjust kidding ...although my friend has a one liter sprint with a glass pack and dual exits one in front of each rear wheel ... and he has like 2000 horse more now so its like at least 32 horse now :roflmao:

:roflmao:
no...it looks good and it makes you happy good job... but a type-r sticker from a honda should be worth 50 more horse

AKswampheep
May 26th, 2007, 11:13
lol i had to have a nice quiet glasspack put on because i gutted my cat and it would have sounded like dooky with any muffler or cheaper glasspack.. i hate XJ's with mufflers, Thrush or dynomax glasspacks are the ONLY exhaust i will ever run on a cherokee.. makes them sound like 1st gen supras :P

IslanderOffRoad
May 26th, 2007, 11:32
so basically you have dual tips, not dual exhaust.

what muffler is that btw? I need a smaller one because with the 8.8 my driveshaft is way too close to my muffler.

AKswampheep

I dont run muflers :P I think every muffler i have ever heard sounds like crap. Go with a 21 inch dynomax glasspack or thrush, same thing. HUUUUGE difference from the regular old cherry bomb glasspack or anything like that.
Ill try to get a sound clip posted sometime.

the heat from the exhaust is going to overheat the oil in that shock. if you leave it there you'll ruin the shock too not just the boot.

lol thanks man, one exhaust pipe on something like my jeep would just look lame, and with no exits the rear end just looks like its butt is about 20 foot in the air. Mine with glasspack and just running it costs 120$, but i had both of the 3" tips beforehand.

May 26th, 2007, 14:55
I hope you don't go off road much because those tips will get smashed. I used to my one exit about where your exit and it got smashed up from descents. Now I have it with just a turn town tip exit right at the last exhaust hangar near the shackle.

Looks good, and if it sounds as good as you say, then you've got the best of both worlds. I'd like to hear a sound clip just to see how obnoxious it is. I'd go mufflerless if I knew I wouldn't be one of "those guys."

Meeks
May 26th, 2007, 15:57
I personally think it looks good, but.. I would never do it myself personally, just more shit to get in the way of suspension bits.. and having to run it that close to your shock is going to damage more than just the boot. Its going to leak, and then you're not going to have any spring damping. However you obviously care more about looks than how it actually works.

And it looks good.

what are you going to do to keep the heat off the gas tank?

bcsavage
May 26th, 2007, 21:15
stock exhaust runs right next to the tank anyways so I don't see a big issue with his setup...

AKswampheep
May 26th, 2007, 21:35
I got looking into it and as long as there is a 1/4" gap between the pipe and the tank, even a plastic tank, its perfectly fine, and as for that pro-crap shock, i hope it bites the dust to tell you the truth, it rides better with one shock on! I only put that one on because people wouldnt stop asking me why i had 1 shock in that back =-o

And btw.. it floats my boat, with great bouyancy!

Does it look like it goes off-road much? lol it stays on the road, with the only off road time being when I go on the half-mile or so trail to get to our mx track. And that trail isnt really too much, nothing a XJ on 31's couldnt handle.

You're on the wrong forum man, you should just buy a Duramax, Cummins, Powerstroke, put some 37s on there and chrome that bitch out if you're going to stay on the road. Its kind of an insult to Jeeper culture to come on here, and have some pavement queen...

I personally don't get it.. I keep my Jeep just like yours same colour.. same lift, size of tires and rims.. and I use mine all the time. And it cleans up and looks just as good as yours.

Why would you spend as much as we all do on gas.. just to have DD?

LOL.. ive had 3 XJ's altogether, ive had my share of fun for now.

If i wanted something to trash it SURELY wouldnt be my Jeep being that its actually nice?

Dont even say wheeling doesnt trash your rig, or deplete its value at least.

If i wanted something to trash i would go buy, you guessed it, a piece of junk cherokee!

At least I dont have to work on my shit all the time and have all my friends say, "why do you put so much time and effort into that thing just for it to look like SHIT!?"

Ive gone through this before, just thought i would give some of the people who actually want a perfectly clean and somewhat valuable XJ, a hint of what duals look like on a cherokee..

If i didnt have about 3 grand worth of shit laying around for a cherokee, i wouldnt have bought another one. Im not the type to be rollin a escalade though, maybe you all are endless money pits with no pity for a practically mint vehicle? But whatever ive made my point i guess..

I building up a pavment pounder for my daily driver. Wont be as high as yours, but it will only be taken offroad to get to the snow or something. Other then that, its all for show. And Im dang proud of that. I have another Jeep for trail duties.

I dont really like the duals, and personally I dont think they fit very well with the Jeeps, but whatever. Its yours, and you can do whatever the hell you want to do with it.

BTW the exhaust is nice.

Hey let the flamers flame. I'm wanting to build a pretty jeep too. I've got big plans for mine. I doubt that I'll be going as high but I'm doing a paint job and some fenders. There will be some bling. Nothing ghettofabulous though.

Mine will still be wheeled and I couldn't own one without taking it out but I like the daul exhaust, although I'd find another way around that rear shock.

Looking good! Now just get some dirt on it once in a while!

Nothin' wrong with a pretty Jeep, but it would be a shame if you didn't at least let it run over something now and then. That'd be like having a hounddog and keeping it in a cage. Let that dog hunt from time to time to remind it who it is!

My Jeep's pretty if you ask me, but it still sees trails. You can have the best of both worlds, just more trips to the car wash that's all. I wouldn't mind letting this Jeep go trail-only in a few years and get myself a street demon Jeep with the bling-bling :greensmok

If anyone wants to read this little blurb I wrote about posuers.. go right ahead.. since I really hate posuers.

I drive a big truck.. it gets attention sometimes positive, and sometimes
negative.. a lot of people think I do it to show off my bank account or use
it as an extention of my manhood, and I would be lying if I said I didn't like
that attention on occation.

Do not get me wrong, this is not why I bought and built my Jeep. If you
don't believe me all you have to do is come for a drive to realize what when
you're in a truck like mine, driving can be a totally differant experience.
You can go places other people can't, and do things other people don't
even think is possible.

What I love, is when I am driving my Jeep with about 300 pounds of mud
all over the hood and cab only to see another Jeeper with 600 pounds of
mud covering his/her vehicle. If I happen to cross paths with a fellow Jeeper I
wave, or honk sometimes even pulling over to stop and talk about trucks.
When I am out shopping I can walk back to my Jeep and have people
waiting to talk to me and set up trail runs and camping trips. It brings
people like me, with my intrests, together and its also a good way to
express yourself. Vehicles have always about expression.. and I think its a
good thing.

But for everyone I see that actually goes out and uses their Jeep and
abuses them like they are supposed to be used!! I see at least 10 jacked
up 60,000$ brand new trucks, gleaming just being freshly polished with
chrome trim and blinging wheels. Trucks that will never see gravel, dirt or
mud. Heaven forbid. Its these people that bother me.. poseurs.

Jeepers will chase me down, and get me to follow them to a hidden mud
pit, or rock mound.. and waste half a tank of gas just bombing around
even though they can't afford to refill their tank till payday or even risk
breaking a part knowing fully they don't have any other way to get to work
in the morning. I have done the same when I see people I havn't wheeled
with and its a new experience everytime.

When it comes to those posuers, no matter how hard I wave or honk,
these prissy little fags driving their rolling bank accounts will not use their
vehicles they specifically moddified for the purpose of offroad to even
acknowledge me, let alone follow me and embrace the very hobby and
lifestyle they are spending thousands of dollars trying so hard to emulate!!
And thats what makes me mad.

And you sir, are a posuer.

Then this one got wheeled hard for half its life, then i found out how uneconomical it was and how much shit costs, so i figured id just drive it and not wheel it.

Oh, and then i found out how much money you save by driving on the streets, and this happened.

Now i have 3000+ worth of parts sitting in my garage.. HMM WHAT TO DO?

And now its sitting in the garage (1 more week) til I can get the axles swapped and these on...
http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g18/CTFriel/irok002.jpg

BUT, it still shines very nicely when clean... And if yours went from that to present condition and it cost $3000.00 you got burned...

I don't know why you guys are getting so huffy.. I think his Jeep looks very nice, and I am not back peddling and trying to apologize for my opinion. I said this a number of posts back. I don't understand what you're trying to say.. do you understand where I am coming from? Sure it looks nice, but he said so himself he doesn't use it for offroad. He admitted the most it will see is the occasional dirt road.

I said I didn't like posuers, and you are one. Period. Everything you have said confirms this, I don't know why you have to get all pissy and throw insults, you have admitted to being one. Either because you're afraid of getting a couple dents in the body work, or having to pay for a trail breakage.

Judging from your older Jeep, you wern't always this way.. which makes me feel a little better about where you come from, and what has affected your decision regarding your current Jeep. Even I have thought about buying a second Cherokee to keep clean, and only 4wheel mildly. After getting discouraged after my first, second, and even third breakage. Maybe I will eventually, but I don't think I would build my daily driver to be such a capable vehicle, just to keep it on the road.

But if looks come before performance, whats the point? Whats the point in having suspension travel, ground clearance, and approach and departure angles like you have? Its just doesn't make sense, does it? You like the look.. thats the only thing you can say in response to me. I understand that, and thats your deal.

But when you come to this realization you think you would have something a little bit more intelligent to say, other than saying I like to suck dick or something. Yeah and you're a poopoo face, or something equally as retarded.

UNCC Civilengineer, when I look at that Jeep.. thats a nice Jeep. Is it nicer than yours? Maybe not.. but at least he uses it. Thats the entire point of our sport, and our hobby. You're no better than some 15 year old kid dressing in punk clothes, and carrying a skateboard around all day without knowing how to use it. If you're after the image, you're going to offend some people who actually take it seriously.

Now.. does that make any sense? Or are you going to tell me that my Mother is fat or something?

You're very right in saying this.. and I do understand that this is a Cherokee forum and its not always about Offroad.. and maybe I am wrong to give him such a hard time.

A few of you guys are having difficult time understanding where I am coming from, and I am just going to suck it up.. and leave this alone. Its a nice Cherokee, infact its one of the nicest Cherokees on here, and if it does get nominated I will most likley vote for it.

I just don't like knowing it will be a pavement pounder. It hurts me inside. Just like seeing rich people park sports cars in there garages and never taking them to the track. Or buying a quad, or dirt bike and never driving it.

But well-- its his money, his Jeep. He can do what he wants with it.

AKswampheep

LOL.. that half mile trail i was talking about...

I said its nothing a XJ on 31's couldnt handle, as in... 31's are probably the smallest tire you could run, with probably 4.5" lift.. I really understated that one.. My red jeep, the first one that got rear ended?? It didnt really have the easiest time making it out there, as it didnt have lockers. Actually it had a hell of a time.

Im not pulling some kiddy shit ~ "your mom is fat" ~ Im just saying, I put time and effort into this one that I would like to make WORTH my time and effort, with it being very capable off road, but yet have the killer looks, or at least thats what i was going for.

Ok, see this as like buying a mustang. Every mustang owner is cocky, its the truth. Every mustang owner burns tire. So youre saying, that if some dude whom had a twin turboed 396 small block shoved in there, his car all waxed up, and did nothing but put around all night, would he be a poser? From your definition of a poser, this would apply. My jeep gets used, not abused. In a sense you could get mad and say because i dont go to the badlands and wheel the XXXX outta it, its not used. I just hauled a 410 olds engine with everything to build it, 70 miles away, then after that i drove down our 4 wheeler trails about a mile to the riverbottoms to meet some friends. But, my point hath been proven.

I will my XJ a few times every month, that doesn't mean that I can't have a clean, sharp looking jeep. You just have to take it easy and stick to obstacles that aren't going to kill you. Don't get me wrong, I have a few light scratches from narrow trails, but I've rubbed most of them out.

I love when a simple thread about an exhaust setup turns into an extravaganze of douchebaggery.

That aint no shit.

Camarors - I just love how dirt seeped out of every little nook and cranny for the next 8 months that i drove my blue jeep on the road.

and uncc civilengineer - I was exagerating on that 3000+, Im just had sitting around, a niceass cherokee, and everything i needed to lift it, plus, brand new rims and tires just sitting there with like 10 miles on them. BTW i couldnt even afford a jeep like yours... i could hardly afford mine that was 3,250 out the door...

Yep, I got mine dirt cheap from a lady I work with (including the ARB and rails)....

I had to drive 200+ miles just to get mine close to being that cheap.

I am in the pretty much exact same boat as swampheep here. I've destroyed 2 trucks off-roading (Both XJ's of course.) My third one:

http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/9831/image00013ru9.th.jpg (http://img515.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image00013ru9.jpg)

Is far too nice to be destroyed, as it didnt cost me $1000. In fact 13 times that. I'm also buying a lift and tires this weekend. I'm a "posuer" I guess.

I didnt need another $1000 beater which I didnt feel bad destroying. However I have had my fun, and just REALLY got sick of fixing shit all the time. So I bought one that didnt need fixing. I dont want to wheel it, but I will when I can. However all the trails around here, will destroy the body(which is how my last 2 were destroyed.) I have no need to wheel this truck hard, however its getting lifted and will be cleaned religously.

Swamp, don't take these shitheaded opinions to heart(although I'm sure you haven't) I once had the same attitude. Then I bought a shiny one. It's not about the fact he doesnt use it, it's the fact he STILL CAN!!!!!!!!

It's not like he lowered it and put 24" rims on it. Shut up and let him be...all of you. It's still a Jeep and will still outwheel most of the people's trucks in this thread (Excluding mine :P) He just doesn't choose to. Pulling up beside a Ranger or a Toyota and knowing I can get further into the bush then him, is good enough for me.

If thats what he wants, then let him have it. You don't need to bash anyone on here for not using their Jeep the way YOU think they should.

Thanks JohnX, if you had read my comment from before.. you might have realized posting this wasn't a very smart idea. If you forgot what that post was, here it is again for you-- make sure to read it this time through. I will even paraphrase it so its easier to understand.

I do understand that this is a Cherokee forum and its not always about Offroad.. and maybe I am wrong to give him such a hard time.. Well-- its his money, his Jeep. He can do what he wants with it.

There are plenty of people on this forum who have 2 wheel drive Jeeps, what about them? Are they lesser than the 4x4's?

Ahh, thanks man. Another gem of arrogance, did I mention anything about 2wheel drive Jeep? Hmmm, nope.. just one second I will take a minute here to re-read all my posts, considering you havn't even read a single one of them. Just as I thought, I didn't mention anything about them. If you want my opinion on 2wheel drive Jeep, here it is for you. My girlfriend owns one.. Its our daily driver.

Also, there are a lot of people on this forum who modify and tweak 2WD Cherokees, and Commanches to be street vehicles, equip them with stronger rear-ends, more horsepower.. wider tires, stiffer and lower coils. I respect people who make street Jeeps. Period.

LOL. That half-mile trail I was talking about... I really understated that one...

Really? What did you call it, what was it that you said.. ?

Does it look like it goes off-road much? LOL. It stays on the road, with the only off road time being when I go on the half-mile or so trail... And that trail isnt really too much.

Kind of funny how, when you say your Jeep doesn't go offroading, that I would actually think-- that it doesn't go offroading! Maybe you should stop understating things, because-- well, wouldn't that just make you look a little silly when you come back a couple posts later and completley have to re-explain yourself.

Im not pulling some kiddy shit..

Sorry.

You like sucking dick? Id say.

Not playing some kiddy shit? Yeah-- yeah you are.

So youre saying, that if some dude whom had a twin turboed 396 small block shoved in (a mustang), his car all waxed up, and did nothing but put around all night, would he be a poser? From your definition of a poser, this would apply.

Yeah-- from the definition of poseur that would apply. Not only my definition of poseur, but the actual one. Of course its easy for me to understand that you might have trouble with the meaning of the word, seeing as you don't even know how to spell it.

poseur
noun
A person who habitually pretends to be something he is not..
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?r=2&q=poseur

You're an asshole man-- you're an asshole and you're a poseur. I dislike you, and think your an immature loser. I tried to be nice.. XXXX, I have come out and said it a number of times. I like you're Jeep. Fer XXXX sakes. But you my friend, are better off selling it.. and buying yourself a pimpin' H2 Hummer.

You have a girl friend....get her to blow you once in a while and maybe you wouldn't be such a prick.

I like your rig man, I've got an XJ that I've tried to keep atleast mostly street all it's life, it's been on some trails, but now I have an MJ that will be the one that is devoted to the trails. I've always wanted to do duals on my XJ and I think maybe after seeing your setup I will. Might have to figure out a little different routing of stuff but I think yours looks good. Nice work.

Oh and to Meeks, I don't care what he said to you...that's still just flat out mean comparing his rig to a Hummer, or suggesting he goes to buy one.

You guys do need to chill the hell out. I am really surprised mods haven't gotten this thread yet.
