Hi Rick,
Nice cabin! I just got back from wheeling in Big Bear this weekend, it's a beautiful area. California is really a land of contrasts, it's amazing to be up on those piney mountains and look down onto hundres of miles of empty desert.
I think I met you in Anza Borrego at the gas station a month or so ago. I think you said your handle was JumpThis anyway. I was driving this at the time:

Blah...Blahh...Blahhhh...about other offers and real value. Whatever....
Its a game...and I'm good at it! :D
There is another place around the corner from it that is a lot newer and bigger for about the same price. (Believe it or not, Jeep parking is on the criteria list! ;) ) I have a sickness that makes me like playing this game...
I'm not all that interested in driving up there again just to look at more houses, but...whatever! At least the wife and I are on the same page.
I'll post up other picts. if this place doesn't open escrow by friday.

What ya' think?
Looks exactly like the cabin my friend's family owned when I was a teenager. Craig managed to convince his parents to allow a dozen high school boys to stay in the cabin, alone, for a long weekend during Christmas vacation.
It took six hours for our caravan of four cars to drive from the San Fernando Valley to Big Bear. (Tire chain issues. DON'T ask!) When we finally arrived, Craig managed to snap the key off in the front door. Had to wait another two hours for a locksmith to get there.
The next morning, a snowfall buried all the cars up to the hood. We were three blocks away from the main highway and had to dig our selves out.
Fun times! Make sure the street you buy on gets plowed!

WE submitted an offer yesterday.....and were told that the owner has decided to take it off the market.
The real estate thing is getting older and older.
:flamemad:
We have made offers on three houses, the first place said they had a higher offer on the table, the second wanted to play too many games with closing dates, fees and the like, and now this one.
This weekend the wife is going to Idyllwild and take a look up there. I don't know of any off-roading up there (some good Mt. biking though!)
There is still a lake close by and its half the distance from my house.
I guess all I can do is roll with it...

I guess the wife got a call from our realtor from Big Bear. The first place we looked at, the one that said they had a higher offer on the table, also the one on the first post here, has fallen out of escrow and is now available.
Bonnie (my wife) will be home in a few and we will talk about it.
she fell in love with it right off the bat and wasn't happy when it looked like we were not going to get it.
Maybe we will put in another offer tomarrow.
I'll let you all know.

Plenty of parking.
As you may guess the interior will be gutted down to the walls. The kitchen and the bath will recieve the most attention. Right now the fridge and the hot water heater just sit out on thier own....we will install an Insta Hot hot water heater outside and have a Sub Zero cabinet fridge done also. Realy the only thing staying in the kitchen will be the stove and even it will be moved.
The bath with be a unique remodel too. Its a little over a 5.5' X 5.5' area.
Imagine that entire area being a shower that will also have a camode and sink 'inside' the shower area. There will be a curtain that can be pulled around the shower area so you don't splash on everything but you will still get a bigger feeling when freshening up.
So, all you contractor types that want to trade out for some cabin time...

Near the airport, Sugarloaf area.
And , no problem Kyung, I prefer to work by myself anyway!
One thing to note is that the place is only 700sf. It could be gutted in a few hours. The plan is to have a dumpster delivered the day after we close escrow and have it picked up at the end of the weekend. That should be about all the time I need.
I will be adding a few items to the Karma thread, new water heater, refrigerator, sofa, a few beds and some lamps and some shelves.
The place comes furnished and we don't want any of it!

Funny....One of the first upgrades I did to my cabin was a home theater.
I threw in Apollo 13, and with the sound and vibration it caused I'm sure my new neighbors thought I was cookin up a batch of dope, and the place was about to blow. :gee:
