I need some help.

I own an 88 Cherokee and the ignition cylinder will not completly turn off to lock the steering wheel, any ideas on what is causing this problem?
:wow:

I sometimes have to slap my shifter foreword to get the key out. The cable is likely a touch long, has stretched over the years. My Jeep has me trained, I slap the shifter foreword in most every car I drive now.
Possible it's in the rod or some of the plastic pieces in the column.
I've learned to live with it, but I've heard you can bend the interlock cable bracket a little and cure this.
