I was going to call around to some scrappies tomorrow and was wondering about up country/country springs. I would like to find some off a late model low mileage wrecker and put them in my 88 chief. will all jeeps with these springs/leafs have country/up cntry badging? or is there a code I can look for.

UpCountry is the off-road option, Country is the trim option like Sport or Classic and got the same base level springs.

UpCountry Jeeps have skids, tow hooks, tranny cooler and Trac-Loc. Some have decals, some don't.

Front UpCountry coils have a 2 letter code on a paper tag with a G in it. Regular coils have F and J codes. Disregard the letter Z.

is there another way for me to find these springs. i have done a VIN search on the DMC site for the vehicles that the current junky I go through. there is another close but the guy is a dick and Im pretty sure he isnt going to let me peruse his stock.

UpCountry Coil springs are excellent and will last for years. UpCountry leaf springs suffer from the same sagging problems as the other stock leaf springs.

I have an extra pair of UpCountry coils, PM me for details.

A good alternative to raise up your leaf springs, new or used, is here - www.rocklizardfabrications.com/budget_boost - Since you are using stock leaf springs with this method the spring rate is not that much greater than stock and they ride comfortably on road and off. I regularly haul 300lbs of cargo and my RockLizard lift is still at the same height after 2 years.
