88 XJ 4.0 Auto Tran

Putting oil pan back on for 2nd time, cut 1 pc. gasket by rear main the first time and it leaked. Is there a secret to installing the oil pan without messing up the gasket, it was a very tight fit the 1st time I installed it.

A spray gasket dressing will stick the gasket to the oil pan flange, so it stays positioned while you muscle it around.

Poke a bolt through each hole in the oil pan flange to line up the holes in the gasket.

Of course jack the jeep up until the axle droops fully.

put a little silicone on the gasket so it stays when you put the pan on
