Powder coating

I'm looking to get a few pieces to be powder coated and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions? I live in Denver but will drive up and down I-25/I-70 if the price is right.

I'm sure there are plenty of shops in Denver to choose from. I have a friend here in the Springs that owns a shop. His oven is big enough to do frames and chassis.

PMW door guards, THOR quarter guards, and some rock rails. All black.

i just picked up some pieces a few days ago from denver bumper...

was also looking at powdercoating specialists in golden, but they had a higher minimum.

tom, do you do powdercoating? i've still got another steel bike frame to do. ;)

How were they on cost vs quality? I was picking up a rear hatch from getting painted this morning (got rear ended) and thats where the auto body place recommended.

Thanks, if I don't find someone I like here in Denver I will give him a call. I work one day a week at HP in the Springs so it wouldn't be too big of a deal going there anyway. Do you know how his pricing is? (decent, expensive but worth it, etc..)

well cost was lower... quality seems fine, but this is the first experience i've had w/ powdercoating (and like i said, it's only been a few days so i can't vouch for durability). however, they were recommended on a biking forum from folks who had used them.

if you're going to the springs, then another option is spectrum powderworks. they do high-end bikes for a lot of the industry, so you'd have to check to see if they could do something bigger like rock rails.

Cool, good to know. I'm not expecting to have anything hold up to a good smack on the rocks but I also don't want something that has a mark in it after I brush against some branches :)

Yes I have a powder coat gun and setup. I don't have a large oven, I use radiant heat. After I asked, I got to thinking about what all I have to do and I am way over booked. Sorry.

He's reasonable for his service. He has a big shop. He does work for some builders here and has done stuff for Predator 4X4. His main work is frame and chassis work for car restorers which is why he got a bigger oven. He can strip and coat anything. And yes, small stuff and small jobs are fine too.

Right on thanks this gives me some better ideas than just picking something out of the yellow pages. Weird there was more suggestions for shops in the Springs but I go down there once a week anyway. Thanks again!
