So, what do you think I should do with the front of my XJ?

1. Replace the header panel and fenders so it still looks kinda like an XJ?

2. Remove header panel and fenders and then tube out the front?

3. Go OT style and just remove the fenders and header panel?

:D

Not sure what I'm gonna do, but thought it would be fun to see what you guys think. In the end, I'll make my own decision and probably won;t use this poll anyways

I think it looks fine how it sits.
But, some tube structure to protect the radiator is important, which is something I need to do.

I would do it like Paul S or Dave Taylor

Replace them.
Your rig still looks decent. Keep it that way as long as reasonably possible.

we did Ron's front tube work like this -
http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b235/davidgtaylor/sweatfest/Rononjack1.jpg

but I would rather have seen him keep the fenders...

the front bar hangs too low - but is about the only part Id consider re-doing...

Keep the grill whatever you do...

you could put sheetmetal over that tube and make it look OK, like FarmerMatt did with the sheetmetal fenders on the cat.

I can get Chinese fenders for around $45.00 each and I can get the front header panel for $90.00.

Both Brad and Eric have used these parts and seem ok with them.

yeah - all Fox 16" travel...

kinda sucks - he is always bitching about how he needs to add this, and take this out, then pump in more N2...

VERY stable, but setting them up SUCKS!

also the way his front air shocks mount makes servacing them hard - the schrader valve is tucked way inside a little hole...

and the worst part - is messing with them at the shop and getting them all set perfect - at sea level and 75* doesnt mean SHIT once you get out to JV at 100* and 4000 ft... so they have to be played with more...

but they perform very well and are VERY stable....

They do *float* in some very deep rocks. But, the body roll can be very disconcernning at first. It feels very unstable side to side, but in reality, is more stable than it seems.

http://www.opiebennett.com/images/Jeep/JohnsonValley61006/img_5475.jpg

Byran felt uncomfortable on the *high* side at over 60 degrees. I felt we had another 5 degrees to go. :D

The anti rock settings are key for running no coiled steel in the corners. Very touchy.

Down side?

Nose over ass happens really quick. Really. :D
