Sam Adams is having a competition for home brewers, two winners, they will brew it at their brewery as a national beer, looks pretty cool and is something I may get into this winter...

huh, i have heard of this but never actually read the rules. I figured it would be all-grain only, but it's not. I really like the trappist beer I just finished, but doubt the Belgian style is something Sam Adams is real interested in. Just started a Nut Brown this week and starting an Oatmeal Stout next week... we'll see how those go....

How long does it actually take to brew up a batch... ?

the brewing process or waiting for it to ferment?
it takes 2-4 hours to brew a batch, wait about a week and spend a half hour transferring it to the secondary, wait another couple weeks and spend 2 hours bottling (I haven't had the joy of kegging), then wait a week for it to build carbonation in the bottle. Some are quicker than others for the fermentation, the trappist was a couple weeks, the oatmeal stout will be the same, the nut brown should only be about a week in the secondary.
