I was wondering how much my jeep is worth and so i figured id start a thread on it. My question to you guys is how much do you think my jeep is good for if sold privately? Also, how much value does all the aftermarket components make your XJ worth more?
Heres a list of parts.....
--1995 sport w/ 112,000 miles, all fluids up to date, good to ecellent shape
--front & rear tow points,
--Hesco hi flow water pump,
--3 core radiator,
--MSD ignition system,
--K&N open air filter on rustys intake tube,
--straight exaust (no cat) into a flowmaster 40 that dumps out the side, ----rockkrawler high steer kit w/ stablizer,
--4.5" coils and rear AAL w/ 1.5" shackles,
--JKS quick discos
--BSD LCA & upper controle
--light rack with 5 KC daylighters w/over 2 million candlepower
--KC slim driving lights,
--front push bar
--olympic top hat rack w/ hi jack and neccesary trail tools,
--rock rails & skids,
--front & rear tow points.
So with that list, how much do you think i can sell it for?
Thanks
woody

Lets see...
12 year old Jeep XJ KBB private party book value = $3045
http://www.kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/kw.kc.ucp?kbb.NC;;NC125;&28327&;817026&;;ucp;&12;JE;F7
less federally required legal emissions equipment = (-)$500
less massive drain on charging system but no upgrades = (-)$300
less obvious abuse to driveline (big tires & lift, but no axle regear) = (-)$1500
less silly ass roof rack (-)$250 or (-)$500 if it has a spare tire up there.
So $3045 - $2550 (or - $2800) = around $250 to $500...
Take all the junk off it and ask $3045 :D Off road junk is worth -zero or less to the resale, and the parts sold seperately are worth approx 50% of new or less.

woody's spot on, odds of finding someone who wants a rig exactly how yours is built is extremely low......and even lower odds are to find someone willing to pay extra for mods.

When you reach 314k give me a call. :D My 97's got 264k. However, just like yours, that's KILOMETRES, not miles...

That's too bad.

It's worthless. I couldn't give away my 95. Send me the carcass and I'll use it for parts.:jester:

Around here, a fully loaded(pw,pl,ps,leather, etc.) '95 goes for around 3500 CAD stock.

I'd be lucky to give it away... maybe a few cases of beer and a couple pizzas :D. I doubt i could get over $2k for it. It's definately worth more for me to just drive the wheels off it than try to sell it.
Edit: 97 XJ Sport 5 spd, 158k, paint looks like $hit, runs great though. Just installed cruise control a couple weeks ago :).
I'd definately buy another 97+ 4.0l with 5spd any day of the week..i'd want power windows this time around though.

I got an offer of $4500 for my 98 with 100k miles a while back -- I thought about it for 5 mins or so -- then decided that its worth farrrrrr more than $4500 to me in memories and personality alone -- my heartache would never end if I got rid of her!!
.....so I dont think my Jeep is ever going anywhere!! As much as I have bi*ched about her -- theres no way I am willing to give it up :bawl:

I have a 2000 Sport with only 60K for sale. I have over $11,000 in extra stuff added to it. My asking price is $8500. I have had no interest. Looks like I will be keeping the XJ. I love it anyhow so it does not hurt my feelings. Your rig is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

After I fill the tank up on my 96' it will be worth about...$47.00!
In one piece, I bet mines worth less than nothing.
Parted out, I could probably make 4 grand.
I've definitely gotten a big return on my investment, just in adrenaline.
If I sold it tomorrow, it'd all be pure profit.

maybe mild mods to the right car in the right crowd, like if your the gear head kid at your school and you have a cool ricer .... you can jack some idiot who doesnt know what labor or parts is worth. Average middle class joe doesnt want a ricer, or big foot jr. They want a pristine bone stock anybrand X suv or seadan etc. Tinted windows good, giant wheels bad, after market head unit good, fiberglass sub box in trunk and neon lights everywhere bad. The right guy might stumble upon your ride and buy it, but 95% of the population isnt into what you are into, and thinks your ride is goofy, gaudy, dumb, the wrong color etc etc etc. Think of how many people wouldn't buy a certain color car of the MODEL THEY DO LIKE. Only the color is not the exact one they want .... they will walk. Now add 5-10 grand in crap they dont know about and convince them its worth it ?
I know california is weird in many ways, never heard of bolt ons and mods being a price premium there

What's it worth to whom? My 1988 DD seems to have a negative Blue Book value, but Gawd forbid someone should hit me and their ins. co. tries to write it off as a total loss. I don't care what it costs you, since you hit me. Fix it - parts are cheap enough and plentiful enough that I expect it to be returned to me within a fortnight, and you can also cover the costs of the rental vehicle I need in the meantime (no, not a "compact" or an "economy" car - the temporary replacement must be capable of roughly the same service. Meaning, a Blazer or similar, with 4WD and a tow hitch. You can also pay the "cleaning fee" when I return it.)
I don't care if it's paid by your insurance company or if you pay for it on your own - that's what I expect, and what I fully aim to get. Don't want to pay for it? Don't hit me!
(I find it interesting to note that the only vehicular incidents I've been invovled in - apart from a roll-away due to a failing transmission about a year ago - were usually "me vs. auto." My truck doesn't get hit - I get hit. Ouch...)
