Well I somehow managed to break my front D44 (cracked the housing, and spun a tube). I have my a new housing I'm getting ready to build.

First question, is there an easy way to remove the welded wedges from a 76 Ford D44 housing? I was going to just cut/grind the welds, but wanted to see if there was any certain way that made things easier then others?

Second question, the upper control arm mounts. For the vertical seperation between the upper and lower control arms, is the stock distant the best way to mount them? Or higher, or lower? Figured if one way was better then another, I'd go ahead and change it from how it was on the broken axle!

Thanks

Anyone have any input on the height of the upper mounts????

Well a quick word of advice, Dont separate the upper mounts any more then stock. The track bar arch will fight the tiangulation of them if you do.

Also raise the lowers. And uppers equal or less if you like.

Whats the measurement of the stock seperation? The axle i'm replacing is a custom built 44, so I dont have a stock axle to compare it too.
