Fuel pressure specs, help!!

I want to check to see if my fuel system is working correctly, pump, injectors, ect.
I have a 1997 xj.
Any write-ups out there on how to do it?
When i give it gas, it sputters and sounds like its going to die, then catches.

first suggestion would be a fuel pressure guage on the fuel rail and a couple noid lights on the injectors.....that or have a mechanic scan it and forgo the headache.
