Dan...I'm sure you realize my Jeep will run anything up there, but I will probably take the easy run so I can get back early to start cooking.

John you are always welcome to join me on any run.

'04 K1500 Suburban with skids and tow points front/rear. Running boards'll handle some degree of abuse, but prolly not full weight. I've run Mojave road twice in it. Stock tires, but that means 31s.

Are you serious?
Those boards will take a beating on even the "easy" trails due to the length of the 'burb.

I'm not worried about cosmetic (scratches, scrapes, even the occasional dent) stuff, cuz I've used them as sliders before, I just don't know that they'll take having the vehicle dropped on 'em. And if not, I suspect I'll be finding out the hard way. But that's okay, we bought the 4x so we could use it.
Since I don't have the 100k it would take to get a Defender 147 into the country, the current plan is to obtain and build a pair of jeeps (preferably similar enough that I only need one set of spares).

If i can get up that early i'd like to go on the easy/moderate run! It's fun to just relax and look at the scenery for a while, not to mention keep the woman from swearing every time I floor it and the back jumps up 2 feet or so :).

My POS handheld CB is lucky to talk to the guy in front of me. :) Besides, for a real emergency, I wouldn't count on a CB to save my life. I've got a dual band 2m/73cm rig in the Jeep. The handheld CB is to satisfy the checklist, nothing more. I find it rare to actually need it as long as everyone keeps the guy in front and behind them in sight. Search Pirate 4x4 for ham radio. If you're going to spend the money, get licensed and spend it there, costs about the same, and the ability to use a repeater can save your own, or someone else's life.
