shaking at idle

So basically sometimes when i'm just sitting still and idling the jeep will start to shake, getting pretty bad sometimes. i'll give it some gas and then it starts shaking again. if i put it in nuetral or reverse or drive it still shakes. also when its shaking and i accelerate it hesitates to accelerate and kind of feels like something is slipping...hopefully its not the transmission. im pretty sure i have an exhaust leak somewhere but could that be the problem? my check engine light is on due to a faulty o2 sensor, but i dont know whats causing the shaking. any ideas?

stock 2001
auto tranny

A bad O2 sensor can cause the computer to go into limp mode to protect the engine from a lean condition. I would suspect this as the cause, but there other problems such as insufficient spark (bad plug(s), bad wires, bad rotor), fuel issues (bad pump, screen clogged, lines corroded or clogged with debris, fuel pressure regulator faulty, bad injector), air filter clogged, etc.

Extensive shaking can be also due to bad motor mounts or transmission mount.

Motor mounts? could have a bad plug not firing, engine thrown off balance....

did you lose your original thread? LOL....

what about dirt injectors? Mine is doing pretty much the same thing every once in a while. 2001, stock except for electrical system (not after May though  )
