OK i give up what does this mean in relation to rearends?

wheel mounting surface - to - wheel mounting surface
I believe its the back of the backing plate, depends on backspacing, but don't quote me on that!!

As I understand it, the "wheel mounting surface" is the inside face of the wheel itself, which = the outside face of the axle to which the wheel is mounted, including the thickness of brake drum or rotor.
