I have a 30 gig video ipod. I'm not the most computer savvy person, but I can get by most of the time. My question is how do I import my own DVD's onto my ipod? I have a DVD player/burner on my PC. I don't want to purchase videos from i-tunes that I already have.

So, they really want you to buy them off of i-tunes...

I'll give what that link suggests a shot. Thanks, Billy.

They're at the mercy of the film industry, those guys are hard core about that.

One thing about all of the software that I know of is that they do not have chapter support, kinda lame if you want that.

From what I understand some of them claim that they'll have chapter support soon. I'm keeping my eye out for it because I want to rip Dust to Glory with chapters ;)

Anything going on my ipod would be something I already own. I'm trying to put Ronin on the ipod right now.

These Generation Text kids... I thought us Gen X'ers were bad, at least we know how to spell...

I followed the link in Billy's post and downloaded both of the freeware programs and it worked perfect. The only thing is that the Videora program has a bunch of advertisement crap that downloads with it (I guess that's part of the freeware catch).

There are a few alternatives to Vidora suggested in the comments on that page.
CLONEDVD Mobile
Handbrake

PQ DVD

One guys says:
Use PQ DVD and never have to worry about decryption. I just insert the DVD, press OPEN, press RECORD IT, and, voila, iPod ready rip in 30 minutes.

And here's another writeup

I spotted this a couple weeks ago at the area Fry's Electronics, anybody try it?

IIRC it is supposedly capable of downloading LP's and cassettes onto conmputer too.

There are plenty of freeware programs that will do that. You just need to connect your audio in/mic input from your computer to the audio out/headphone jack on your stereo.
