I only put these dates down to satisfiy everyone. I am going to try and get out of work on Friday and stay through the weekend.

Right now the plans are not in stone.

It might just be a relaxing trip to get out of the heat.

More details to come.

So???? Where is the interest here guys? I know lots of you want to go..you have told me.

My wife just informed me she got Friday off work so I am good for Fri-Sun.

Come on....who else is going???

I talked to Dave and he was up for that. Personally with a bike race up there that weekend I have a feeling it might be hard to find a public place big enough to fit us all.

one vote here for your camp spot.

It doesn't take a bike race to make it hard to find a nice place to camp. I am franticly trying to get the jeep ready to go. oh i guess this would be a good time to ask if anybody has any objections to having a zee-jay in the group???

Gifton shows up in his Why? Jay. Dead eye, Bryon and Jeremy are likely to show up in their cheerleader jeeps so I guess a true soccer mom jeep should be allowed.

At least it doesn't have doors :D

It's foootbawl not soccer!! anywho, if i can get the t-case shifter to work right. (i think the trans mount is wasted) it should be in good shape. if not i always have ol' green. (now i'm pushing my luck).

What info would you like? I think right now the plans are to go camp....get out of the heat and wheel a little bit.

My cousin and I have talked about two possibilities for wheeling. One is take off straight from his camp spot...head up the chalk creek road and Head over toward Whitney Rez.

The other is to go up toward Lym Lake and over the top to the Elizabeth Mt road and back down.

XJBanker has shown some interest in hitting an old turn of the century Saw Mill that is up in that area also.

i had a thought of maybe doing both. we could get to the mountains via chaulk ck. and end up at table top. don't know about everybody else but we like to spend as little time as possible on paved roads. if it were to rain the chaulk ck road is fun because it becomes a river.

Where's the camp spot? You going to stay in 1 place the whole time or move camp spots as you go? You going up early friday or in the evening? Whats the general area? I have not much much time in the Unintah's. Mostly around Trial lake and I don't even think its in the Unintahs :)

The camp spot is on private property up the Bear River Valley right on the river under some huge cottonwoods. Its about 15-20 miles out of Evanston Wyoming and we would be camping there every night.

I would let him give directions because he knows the area better but its a really nice spot.

first you get on hwy 150 s. go to mile post 9 turn right on to county rd 157. go 4 miles (south) you will see a big sign that says myers ranch.(right hand side). on that road go almost 1/2 mile turn left. (white gate) go another 1/2 mile. turn right (there is a sign that says authorized personel only) turn right there we are at the end on the right. we will camp there. it is right on the bear river. my family will be camping there the whole week. it is nice because it isn't far to town if someone needs fuel or supplies. i can post gps if needed. let me know.

The trails up around lilly lake will be closed but you can go up higher over elizabeth pass. There is the old saw mill, swedish village and table top that looks down into the blacks. None of the trails are hard, it is really a scenic trip. If poeple want to take canoes, there are a couple of little lakes and the blacks that you can float down. The lilly lake area is better fit for 4 wheelers anyway on the good trails. It looks better and is cooler higher up.

Chaulk creek road to whitney to lym lake and so on...would be a pretty long drive.

Based in the descriptions Lym lake, elizabeth pass/mnt, old saw mill, swedish village and table top seem to be in the the same general area. That would be a good bunch of thing to see.

This may be a dumb question, so sorry if it is, but what can I expect for drive time from Bountiful to the camp spot roughly? I've got some flexibility with work and could leave a little early if need be on friday to get up there in time to pitch the tent in daylight. Just not quite sure when to leave. Also would be willing to caravan with anyone wanting to.

What do the rest of you want to do?

Bryon, Brian and I have all been to Lym Lake several times. Although I wouldn't mind finding something new I know several of you have not been up in that area and It probably has some of the best views around.

I am up for anything but want to do whatever the rest of the group wants to do.

OH yeah Bryon.....thanks for the internet access again. :D

mudock basin wouldn't be a bad ride. there are some nice lakes down in the bottom of the drainage. road 416 is just rough enough to bounce your teeth out. also it is grown in with trees and you can't see out very well. it would probly be better to just get off hwy 150 at road 137. we will have to see if anyone else is intrested in making this trip..

Murdock basin is pretty much dirt roads. The very small resivour on that end of the duchesne tunnel is nice with finger sized fish. Bring your light weight gear.

The last time I was all the eway back to Marshall/Hoover Lake only the last hundred feet of road required 4wd. That was due to ruts dug when muddy. Most of those lakes are a nice place for a quite lunch.

ok. just another thought on where to go. i have talk to ryan and gordon (he works with me). seems like lym lake is the popular choice. we were considering a backwards lym lake ride. we would go the the bottom of table top first and work our way down. if we got to the bottom of the lym lake road early enough, we could also go up into where the old bob's lake used to be.

What is the best bait/lure?
I've got a young'un that want to fish.

The lakes are usually good for power bait or worms. Small flys too.
The last time I fished a river up there was years ago on blacks fork with rock rollers.

the fishing right at camp depends on the day. sometimes its good and somtimes you can't even get a bite. red rooster tails seem to work good. sometimes you can even catch them with your hands.

im guessing you need a Wy licence though? Or since its on private land can you get away with it?

I think we're in for early Sat. morning and returning by noon on Sunday.(Tamara has bellydance practice for Festival the following weekend)

Clint, if you're still going up early Sat., give me a pm so we can link up for a convoy.

BTW, are the dogs cool? Gotta bring the pups! (they're like out kids)

What channel on the cb?

Thanks, Josh and Tamara

dogs shouldn't be a problem. i have two of my own. in the worst case we may have to quarantine (probly not spelled right) them. usually they are ok.

I can get away a little earlier on Friday, maybe 3-4pm. I'll be taking my daughter who wants to do a little fishing, so I'll stop in Evanston and pick up an one-day license.

If there is not a convoy arranged for Friday afternoon we should get that done, maybe meet at a parking lot or something?

if people can find the county rd.( it is #157at mile post 9 on hwy 150) we can hang the banner at the lane (4 miles down cr #157) from there the wife will put out signs to guide everybody in. if anybody gets lost before 5:28 pm they can call me at the shop.307-789-3151 ask for service i will answer. i will talk them in over the phone. it really isn't that hard to find us. if you get lost ask someone where brian and tomilynn are at?? hicks are bad for that. by the way what kind of dogs are they? (i know they have 4 legs, 2 ears and a tail)ha ha ha. i have a big healer that thinks she is a lap dog and a jack russell that is almost deaf and blind in one eye. they usually don't mind other dogs.

the maps are fine. the only thing it doesn't show is the last turn to the right. there is a green gate here (it is open all the time)and there is a sign that says authorized personel only. ( we are authorized) we are only about 200yds down that road on the right. my wife said she would try to get signs up along the way.

About 4 miles...

first you get on hwy 150 s. go to mile post 9 turn right on to county rd 157. go 4 miles (south) you will see a big sign that says myers ranch.(right hand side). on that road go almost 1/2 mile turn left.

I have not decide if I am going to Camp or stay at our cabin, if we stay at the Cabin I will be coming to meet you guys in the morning. If I come then, I will be coming down the chalk creek road. When i get to the intersecting road I turn north and then how far is it to where you are? I just cant decide between a warm bed or sleeping on the ground in the tent. If anyone wants to follow me up friday night they are more than welcome to and my wife and I will either go straight to the camp or drop you off at the road that takes you right to where everyone will be.

sound like ryan and davew will be the first ones there. we had a slight change in plans, shortie got called on a trip and she won't be back until fri around 2:00.ryan if you guys are earlier than that, stop at the shop and check with me. i will find out how long she will be and if needed i'll explain where to park everybody. i don't think there would be a problem hanging the naxja banner at the gate.
