engine code for EVAP system

I'm getting a check engine light that when scanned said EVAP sys leak(small), is this just a vaccum hose leak or is it more/something eles, it happens when I first run the jeep for the day, it also has a strong gas smell kinda like propane while it's warming up then it goes away, it a '98 automatic 4.0L and runs great besides this prolem, thanks for any help
