View Full Version : Swap party - And parts for sale

johnnyc
July 18th, 2006, 19:14
Had a talk with Grant over sushi last night. He has graciously offered to let me hold my swap party at his warehouse. So tentatively, I'm thinking the weekend of July 29-30. I'd appreciate any and all help. Food and beverages will be provided.

Some parts have already been spoken for.

Tranny
Transfer case
Rock rails
Seats

But there will be plenty of other parts available for sale.

From old 96 XJ.

Engine
Gas tank skid
Tomken transfer case skid
Grill
Rear hatch glass
Front C4X4 winch bumper
Cruise control
Interior parts

And from the new 98 XJ.

HP Dana 30
Chrysler 8.25 (29-sp)
Stock suspension and steering parts
Stock bumpers
Stock wheels and tires

There's other miscellaneous stuff that I can't think of right now. If you want something, send me a PM. And come on down that weekend to pull the part and take it away.

Post up if you think you can make it. Thanks guys!

Hey Johnny,

I will be able to stop by one of those days to lend a hand. Not sure which one yet, but count me in. I may even bring Kaleb. He is getting really good a hammer and screwdriver. He wants a wrench!

For those that don't know who Kaleb is, he is my son. He will be 3 at the end of Aug. He loves off-roading, Jeeps, and monster trucks.

Sorry Steve, the cruise control is 1996 specific.

And Mike, you can have the doors for free, if you really want them. The only thing is that I'll be taking out the power regulators so I can convert my manual windows some time in the future. But then again, you probably don't care about the regulators anyway. And it probably doesn't matter that the glass is still in good shape. :)

Johnny, Keep the spliced portion of the two harnesses as one of these days I'd like to document what wire goes where for the 97+ door conversion.

Gray interior. Yes on the reservoir/pump. And it'll be at the M&G location (you know, the one where you showed up in the front, while we were in the back). :)

What about the horns, are they available? Mine sounds a little wierd since I got all that mud and water in them a while back (over 1 year). Just haven't thought about them much, but yesterday I almost got hit by Mercedes.

No factory horns. I had installed twin air horns, but they aren't very loud. Super Autobacs on Beach Blvd. has a nice selection of loud horns. And you can even listen to them in the store. :)

5584 E. La Palma Ave
Anaheim Hills, CA 92807

And it's Saturday, July 29. We haven't set a time yet, but I'm thinking of starting at 8 am. If Grant can wake up by then.

Belly dancers? My next door neighbor is a Brazilian samba dancer. Will that do?

Everyone, please bring a tool box so that we aren't all fighting for my two 18mm's.... BYOB and if you all bring something to slap on the grill, we can fire that up at some point as well. Also, bring a fan... the more the merrier. It has been hot there on weekends these days. After building a machine for a bud this weekend I was a puddle.

Johnny, I'll plan on 6A to have the shop door open. Roll in any time after. When you pick up the Peterbilt for the air brake endorsement I'll have your battery ready, even if I am on the road selling. Brit will have it for you. ;)

Johnny, If you could, pull one of the OE bumber bracket bolts (one of three on each frame rail) and go get replacements a half inch longer. Johnny, you worked us like dogs. Oh wait, we are. At least we can say we were the first ones there, and the last ones out- literally. The jeep came out really well, it looks damn good. I guess now it's time time to start getting people together to fix my heep....

Thanks to everyone who came out today.

Thanks again guys. You're the greatest.

Did you end up using any of those parts I left for you? I hope SOMEONE puts them to good use. ;)

So Rick, that's your wooden creeper, huh? Grant was about to send it to the Smithsonian. :) We'll find a way to get it back to you. Don't know about a hammer though.

First trick they played was yanking my coil wire, pretending that Kyung may have fried my PCM while doing some welding. Then Grant put a big-ass zip-tie on my driveshaft, and told me to go for a test drive.

Eddie, those seatbelts are kinda worn and frayed. I wouldn't feel safe giving those to you. Sorry.

Cal, used the longer brake lines. Still haven't measured to see what size shocks I need yet.

Robert, can't go wheeling just yet. I'm gonna have to do some major fender trimming. Grant does also to fit his new 35s. So we were talking about a fender trimming party. Rick can bring his plasma cutter. Also I don't have rock rails yet. No way am I destroying my rockers.:)

Cute, isn't it?

Sorry I left early guys, as it turned out, I didn't need to.
Picked up my tires from Mikey and got stuck in traffic (who the hell has traffic jams on Saturday for Christ sake?)
Got home to find my irrigation guy had already left....bastid!
Oh...BTW I woke up this morning and figured out a way I could have used
my plasma cutter using just 110 outlets. Damn, I hate that!
Next time we need to cut something up I'll have a junction box made!
Anyway...what sort of dirty tricks did they play on you Johnny?
When I left there was wispers of subtrifuge... :D (did I spell that right Cracker?)
Rick R

Rick, I have a 220 outlet over by the old heep... you could have plugged and played.

Oh well.

Now, as for gramma gurnie's creeper.... Holy chit, got wood?

I need my creeper...:tear:
Rick R

You and your farking hammer... my ears will never be the same.

Overheard while Rick was beating on chit,

"Well, it ain't my jeep".

Beat away, Rick!

No you didn't. You had a 30amp 110 outlet. Unless I missed something...:dunno:
And for the creeper....keep your hands off my wood!!!:D
And I exspect it returned in undamaged condition....with its
dignity in tact!!

No, I did.

The silver conduit (only two outlets on either side of the shop) is 220. The rest (dressed lightly in cream) is 110.

Yes, you missed something.

BTW, your uncle Lester wants his creeper back....

Ha. When I got back from my test drive, Grant, Curt, and Kyung were helping Bryce swap my 98 rear axle and leafs into his Jeep. These guys just didn't want to stop working.

As we were unbolting the leafs from Bryce's Jeep, Kyung discovered that the left forward bolt was spinning in place. So the decision was made to abort the operation.

So to answer the question, we were chowing down at In-and-Out at 10 pm. We were trying to figure out when things went wrong, since the rear end was swapped out at 10 am. :dunno:

Sorry about the flare, I new it was loose when I removed the inner splash shield. There were a couple of remarks made about that being loose by several of us but I guess we forgot to tell you. Thats what happens when there are too many indians and not enough chiefs! Oh well, like Kejtar siad flares are over rated. On the upside the LOOSE-NUTS-BUMPER was designed for use with front TJ flares. So get to sourcing!!!:laugh3: Had a good time working on your junk and this is the best turnout I have ever seen at a wrenching party!!! Good job to everyone. Thanks Grant for the workspace and look forward to talking with you more about bussiness.;) :bunny:

But this weekend is not good for me. Family thing all day Saturday. And going north on Sunday. Good luck on the swap.
