Ok so my wife doesnt like beer, so I was wondering if there is a sweeter type of beer my wife might like? Im very partial to pear cider but it is hard to find up near us and while she didnt hate it it wasnt to her liking either.

I don't remember the name of it but there is a beer from Belgium that has a lot of rasberry in it (and you can taste it). It is in a thick bottle with a red cap over the top. It is a premium beer and you will only be able to find it in places with good selection.

If I happen to run across it I'll let you know the name.

I used to drink cider a lot.. hmmm.. Pyramid makes a few different flavored beer.. I remember having a peach bear and it did have a peachy taste to it.. Some honey beer is sweet.

Has she tried Mike's Hard Lemonade?? They are SWEET...

Also, sometimes I'll drink Merlot wine with ice.. I think Chardonnay is sweeter than Merlot..

Heck.. Orange juice and vodka or tequila.. :gee:

Name that movie --- "Drink Up Johnny"

Beverages and More has an awesome selection of hundreds of beers, from all over the world. I had a double chocolate beer from (i think, it was a while ago) Egypt or somewhere weird haha. TONS of flavors, and not expensive either! Check em out: http://www.bevmo.com/productlist.asp?area=home

My girlfriend likes beer with a shot of grenadine. I tried it once and I almost gagged. I guess there's no accounting for taste.

sasparilla...it tastes like rootbeer just with alcohol and a little sweeter. Hard cider? hooch? boons farms? any fruit based beer has a semi-fruity after taste but still tastes like beer....I like apricot and blueberry. A heff with a Large slice of lemon is what my wife likes......me......I like free. Drinking Budweiser (regular) right now, but I prefer the strongest stout money can buy. mmmmmmmmmmmm...BEER!

Wild Turkey 101. Mixed with anything sweet! Tastes yummy, and gets quick results. Not just good to drink straight, but makes a great parts cleaner on the trail!

Beer is not supposed to be sweet!

The more bitter, the more I like it. I'm very partial to IPA's, and my favorites are the ones from Stone Brewing. Arrogant Bastard > *

Try darker ones, they aren't necessarily sweet, but have more of a coffee or chocolate taste. Maybe a porter or stout would be good.

Holsten also makes some fruit-flavoured beers, but I think they only do limited runs in tiny child-sized bottles.

p.s.

I heard that there's some new start-up, I think they're called Quartersawn, that brew some sissy flavors.

would be nice but parking costs $$ :D they used to claim to have the most beers on tap in the south bay, but its been awhile i dont know if they still hold that title. the whole wall behind the bar is beer taps, they even have duff - homers favorite :roflmao: i think its just bud light tho lol

edit: its 777 beers, and over 80 on tap

I don't know if you can get this Lost Coast Brewery stuff in SoCal but all of it is some of the best micro brewery beer I have ever had. This Raspberry Brown is actually surprisingly good, most chicks that I know like it. Check out their other brews here http://www.lostcoast.com/ By the way it is located in Eureka, CA. I think that Humboldt County is also home to the highest quality microbreweries in the country. There is Lost Coast, Mad River, Eel River, Six Rivers, and Blue Lake Breweries. All of these are within a 30 mile radius and all make quality stuff. Very good place to live around if you are a beer drinker.

The only time I have had it is from my uncle in-law....he brews it himself.....i think you can buy brew kits from 'The home brewery" in Riverside. it was pretty good.

BJ's Brewery (or Brewhouse) makes some pretty good beer too.....I go to the one is San Bernardino and get the Totonka stout....9.6% alc! Good stuff.

Have her try Franziskaner, it's a German beer made by monks that live on top of a mountain. It's very smooth and slightly sweet, very good drinking beer. Also Belgian blonde beer, very smooth and light drinking beer.

Make her a Radler, half lemon lime soda and half beer, a decent pilsner.

Mmmmm, refreshing!

Try it!, you may have to play with the proportions a little bit, I like mine with a little more beer than soda.

Good on a hot day. Might try it with a weissen instead of a pils.

Wow, so shitty recomendations... sweeter beer doesn't mean more coffee like.
learn your beer styles.
a traditional german Hefe'Weizen will be on the sweeter side. the Yeast is known for its banana and clove aroma's and even flavor. I have a recipe for a German Dunkel'Weizen that taste like a banana split. traditionally, there are very little hops used in the Weizen beers which leaves them on the sweet side.
Learn to brew. just about anything you brew in your kitchen will taste better than anything you buy in the store.
also try finding sourmash. a good apricot sourmash will be high in alcohol, sour and highly effervescent.

Its not as expensive as one might assume.
My local hombrew shop sells a basic BYO kit starting at about $130 I think.
I am now brewing hard cider in 3 gallon batches. did one at about 5% and it taste like apple juice. but you get buzzed off it. have a second batch brewing with a different type of juice which should be yummy. Learn to make mead, its more wine like.
Different types of beer are much easier to find when you make it yourself.
You can make a sweet beer with ease.

I'm a loner... the only way to get beer from me is to hang out with me. Either when I'm brewing something, or just haning out in the garage, or on the trail... wait... scratch that... At camp after being on the trail. There is no way to keep a keg cold on the trail while keeping the wieght down. Even 3 gallons of beer and all the ice to keep it cold is gonna weight to much. Not to mention all the sloshing around is not good for the carbonation. Nobody likes tapin a foamy beer.
Honestly, I'd much rather help someone to learn to make there own beer, its amazingly easy and fairly cheap to get started.

As a matter of fact, I am going outside to drink about a gallon ofhard cider and make 10 gallons of my CA cream Ale. That was the first one to disappear up at the SocalXJ Jambo. I think it was gone by the first night. So I am making 10 gallons this time. and it cost me a whole $30 for the grain and hops... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

That stuff is pretty good. What are some good SoCal Breweries? There is Firestone Walker here in SLO but nothing that I have had really competes with any of the beer from Humboldt. From what I can tell NorCal has SoCal beat in the beer department. I also seems that wine is a lot bigger down here as well. I would like to try some good beer from SoCal though because I am tired of paying $9 a six pack for Lost Coast stuff when I can get a case for $18 in Eureka.

Ballast point brewing has some killer stuff. I was at there tasting room a week and a half ago. Yes free tasting... They had a Double IPA on tap. Over 100 IBU's and 9% abv... Awsome stuff, I drank a quart of it and was smoked inside of 30 minutes. there stuff is available all around. have found there black marline porter in a local sports bar. and then of course Stone is litteraly a throw away from me in san marcos/escondido.
