Daiwa makes a few nice cased sets in the ultralight category, I've carried on for years and would use it when in the field if there was fishing near one of my observation posts. This is just one of them, they also have a fly/spin one too..

Ugly Stick Lite and Okuma reel. The ugly sticks go for around $35-$40 and they make them in one piece and two piece. Check Bass Pro, I think they're on sale. One of my buddies go me hooked on them, now I wont buy anything else for bass. I have a couple of Okuma Pro 5's that I have had real good luck with. They are very smooth. They go for about $30 and you can go for a little bit of a bigger reel for a few bucks more than that.

I think he's looking for something that will store in a duffle bag or alce pack..some places you don't want to be walking around with something that looks like an antenna sticking up...the nice thing about the one I have is the case looks like a holster and has provisions for adding clips to you can attach it to your web belt or pack...

Thanks Rich, you have the idea. Also kinda looking at keeping it below $50.00. I know I can get Propiel special for 19.99 w/free shipping. Of course I very weary of the As Seen on TV stuff.

Mainly because I am only a novice fisherman and only want to get into to it when I'm camping.

Other wise sportsmanguide has one like you sugested Rich for 39.99.

Those multi-piece units look like more of a pain then a two piece unit. I have a cheap shorter two piece unit that plenty portable and easy to store. It's maybe 6' or so. I strap it to backpacks all the time and it doesn't stick up that far or get in the way.

Here's Cabela's page:
http://cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/index/index-display.jsp?id=cat20287&navAction=jump&navCount=1&parentId=cat20166&parentType=category&cmCat=MainCatcat20166

They list quite a few combo's under fifty bucks. I've always had good luck with their setups. Look like you need to get a six foot rod to get two piece design, that must be similar to what I have.
