RE 4.5 lift parts

I am currently have a RC 3in and i am looking at going with something a little better. i was thinking of going with the RE 4.5 with AAl and then using those to build a bastard pack so save a little money. I know that there are right ups on how to build them, but would the AAL work with the S-10 pack for a 4.5 lift

dont people usually take the main leaf out of the s-10 pack, cut out the eyes, and use that as a make-shift AAL to put in their pack? you would be saving money in the rear... but you can throw away the AAL if you have the s10 main leafs...?
