replacing shock bushings with bearings?

I was contemplating with changing my shock bushings (EB1 style) for a spherical bearing instead to give it more room to move when at full drop,and to compensate for axle side movement.I see them on pro- racing shocks and was wondering ifsomebody has allready done this.The bearings i am thinking about are around under $10.Has anybody done this and what bearing did you use??????
