May 11th thru 13th Pyeatte Draw !! This is a three day event open to all ArizonaXJ club members as well as any NAXJA member that want's to make the trip to Payson Arizona!!

All levels of wheeling are avialable, from stockers to XJbuggies theres a section of trail for everyone!!

This is the Anniversary run for the ArizonaXJ club's 7th year! So bring the booze, babes and the Rigs and lets have a great time together!!

Man, that sounds like a TON of fun, BUT I wont be able to make it. Just today at Gunsight Pass area I mesed something up and now it is popping and creeking and shaking at speeds like never before. So, until I get time to take it up and apart, it is parked for now.

The track bar mounts are tight, and the steering box feels good.
However, I am feeling it more in the feet when turning, like it is a control arm binding. I am going to remove and grease them up and see if that helps with the noise.
Also, I thing the shake is the fact that I scuffed all my wheel weights off the rims when I got jammed in between a few wittle rocks.

I wish I could go too. Payette Draw is a lot of fun and AZXJ is cool. This trip is a week before a 3 day trip that I am taking thru Canyon DeChelle. I have two people flying in my trip and I dont want to break something that could keep me from going. Hopefully this happens again next year so I can plan to go on that one...

Got to give you credz man. I took the air cleaner off and checked the bolts to the track bar mount on the inside and they were a little loose. Weird thing is that they were not moving from the outside. Anyway, a few hard tugs on a 18mm and creek and rattle gone. The shake was becouse I bent in the rim a little and knocked a large weight off the rim also. Moving to right rear were it will be less noticable.
So, now just gotta get my doors or elec window fixed and overheating at freeway speeds and I might be able to make it. At this point, I am trying harder to make it than not.

I'll be there aswell with my junk and I will probably bring a buddy that has bough a freaking landcruiser (fj80) yesterday. He thinks that anything the xj can do a stock fj80 will have no problem doing, eventhough he is over a foot longer and a few hunderd pounds heavier...

F,ing TJ is blowing codes agian... Ugh.. I told the dealer the cat was plugged and all they did was replace some spark plugs..(already did that) I'm hitting up Darners agian in the AM to make them fix it agian... This OBD2 computer controlled crap is the pits.. What happend to the days of simple obd1.... our scanner says mis fire cylinder 4 and 5 yet the continual flash is inductive of catastrophic emissions failure.. I should have just sent it down to you and Rags to fix it.. HAHA.. Just picked up my tow rig too.. 79 K5 blazer.. party1:

Things are looking good for me and Family to be there. I ordered my new Hesco water pump and t-stat and high flow housing today. Got a 99 Brake booster coming also. Now just need to wire rear elec windows to function without front doors and make them removable.
I also lined up a trailer and tow rig for the jeep. So as of now, we can pretty much count us in.
Dave, it looks like I will follow JJ to your place and then go up with you guys Friday morning.

Hey all, newb here needs a little more info. I have driven through payson before on the way to albuquerue, but that is about it.

I have 4 daughters so actual camping is out of the question, so I will probably drive up friday afternoon, camp at a motel, then pull up to payete at dawn.

But where? Nothing is marked on the map.

I am driving a stock xj, so I need to roll with the greenhorns.

follow the map to the trail head.. I will have experienced trail leaders for the light duty rigs to lead everyone through some of the class 2 stuff.. Just make it to the camp site and we will make sure your setup with the right group..

Take HWY 87 north to Payson. Continue on Hwy 87 to Huston Mesa rd. Make
right on Huston Mesa rd. 6 miles to NF-198. Make right on NF-198 and follow
up over the saddleback. From the top of the saddle back it is 3.5 miles to
the draw. We will post signs as usual..

Well, Murfy's law has stricken me again. I was driving my jeep around after bigazxj and myself installed a new 99 booster and a new water pump and stuff and she just died on me. It cranks, but no spark. I got fuel, but no spark. It did start for about 3 seconds and then died. We are working at getting it going but if she dont run, I dont go.
So join in a prayer of the JEEP GODS to help us find the issue and go camping.
P.S. we already replaced the CPS and nothing changed. I have ordered a distrubutor in hopes that it is a TPS.

Its not the TPS, its the Cam shaft position sensor thingy. Sorry, I am not a mechanic, I can replace parts and diag some simple stuff, but mostly still learning the intricate stuff. JJ says its the part inside the distro its all full of crud. We will soon find out as I got the new distro now and will be heading his way shortly.

Now this is the funny part, I was ready to go, got the oil change done, slapped on new motor mounts and had the Jeep packed and ready to roll out in the morning. Went to bed at 1:30am after doing all this looking forward to this awesome trip.........Then it started!:dunno: I here my Jeep crank up:confused: look out the window and think someone is trying to steal it. Run out, boxers and all and see my stuff on fire:flame: grab the hose, turn it off and open the hood...........The freaking silanoid on the starter sticked and shorted out the battery and turned her on, rolled in reverse (5 speed) and broke my brick wall......the rest you can analyze yourself.....:repair: :bs:

OH MAN, Me and Family had a BLAST!!!!!!! Thanks ArizonaXJ for inviting us along for the ride. I learned ALOT about trail repairs and enjoyed some different kind of wheeling. I cant wait to do it again and again.

Long drive, We covered lots of dirt - or - we were covered in lots of dirt :D

All and all, it was WELL worth the drive up there. Although it was kinda wierd driving the XJ on hwy 87 with 10lbs of air and no doors or top :eek: . I guess there is a first time for everything.

Had a great time. Wanted to say thanks to Jason for the help with my flat. Hats off to Dave for all his help to everyone on the trail. It was nice to finally put some faces to names. Look forward to doing it again.

That is the one. This is a really sweet rig. I want to cage it and start choping the top of soon. I am starting to do 4.5 with custom long arms and 33s just like you have. This is a sweet rig man. i give you props.

Thank you. Shocker and I are loving it, :lickout: it works well.
Chopping the roof, and removing the doors/hach shook alot of weight. On pavement & in a straight line, the rear tires will break loose with ease. She even barks in second. :eyes:

Man sorry guys, I just got back from another trip up north. Up by happy jack, and this time I took a stock Liberty, It did OK but was not able to do much.....

However, we all were very luck last week. IT WAS FREAZING!!!!! It got down to the high 30's low 40's at night, it rained, it poured yesterday for about 45 minutes straight. But it was great for the trail, man that mud made it a lil more tricky.

Now Geno.....patience is key. we just have to wait for the pics, since i locked up the CD in my safe box at work, and I cant get to till manana.

I'm sure being on the top of the rim had alot to do with the colder temps at night.. When we rolled up to the rim on sunday it was almost chilly in the shade..
