Reading the VIN

This is probably in the archives, but I couldn't find it.

Does the VIN tell me if LSDs were originally installed on my 2001 XJ or not? If it does, how do I read it?

Call your local Jeep dealer, give them your VIN and ask for a build sheet. That will tell you the options originally installed on your XJ. There should be a way to email DaimlerChrysler and ask for it (that's what I did), but I can't find the webpage.
