window wont go down on 89 xj

my drivers side window will not go down...since i have owned the xj the window has always been really weak, sometimes would not go down at all and sometimes it if did go down it would need help up..

now it doesnt do anything?

is it the motor that needs replacing or what else could it be?

Check fuses first, if its been working slowly it could have alot of resistance and blew the fuse. next check power in and out of switch. If you have power out of the switch, check power to motor. The slow operation could be weak motor, but could also be poor wiring/ and or ground. I've seen alot of these with breaks in the wires in the boot between door and cowl.
