So I have a 95 XJ Country 4.0HO (US model), kinda banged but up but not badly, mechanically good 116,000 miles, only issue is bad breaks. Green and Gray with cloth interior, Power nothing. I added a mopar tire carrier; yes I know it is weak for anything over stock but its only going to have a stock wheel on it. However it need to pass the Swiss Technical Inspection in order to register it and so will cost me some $$, But I do prefer the US turn signals and rear lights, more original over hear.
Or I sold my Liberty to my Bro who gave me his 1990 XJ LTD 4.0 (Euro model) with 262,000 KM (around 163,750 Miles) Black with black leather and all the bells and whistles, just passed the Swiss Technical Inspection and runs great. Rather ugly fake wood interior and steering wheel, but that can be changed.
What to do. I have to give one of them away to cover the cost of the black ones test. Sorry no pics as of yet.

Put the best out of both into the newer jeep, put the rest on the older jeep and sell that one...

Agree and i would keep them both, but that would end up in me being devorced rather quickly.

??? how much does the black ones test cost? Tell the Mrs. that haveing both is a good Idea. That way when you break your trail rig you don't get fired for not being able to drive to work. or some b.s. like that. Oh she doesn't read this does she?

Personally I prefer Renix 4.0's (1987 - 1990) and would probably lean toward the 1990. Although before dropping the 95 I would pick all the good stuff off of it such as the interior and such.
I wouldn't worry too much about the US Spec tail lamps, you can find them very cheap from this board and get them for youself. As I'm sure you're aware the EU spec lamps are expensive so I'd keep those handy for inspection.
If you do end up going with the 95 I would take all EU spec lamps off the 90 and convert the 95 to EU spec for inspection. I would then purchase some US Spec lamps from the US and put them on the 95 since you prefer them (again, keeping the EU spec lamps in the garage for the next inspection).
One other note: The 95 has a much better power brake booster than the 90. This is something to consider when making your decision or swapping parts.

Thanks, yeah but in Switzerland they don’t care about it being US or EU spec. The only thing needed with a US spec is the front parking lights (when lite) need to be white and not orange like in the US. Why do you prefer the Renix, isent the 4.0HO better.
GermanXJ,
Sounds fun, but I prefer being on a snowboard when in the Alps. Take care I believe someone died on the Matterhorn the other week. Do you have a web site for your club in Germany? You should attend the www.JEEP-HEEP-HEEP.ch (http://www.JEEP-HEEP-HEEP.ch) meet in September; they transform Crans Montana into a 4x4 park only for jeeps.
