I've been getting a strange noise that seems to come from the transmission tunnel area lately, wanted to see if I could get some help diagnosing it....
It seems to only happen when the transmission has cooled down quickly - ie normal temp to being parked on a cold night.
It seems to only happen if the above condition is met and you give it some gas.
It only seems to happen for a few seconds then never again during that trip.
The noise is very difficult to describe; it makes a muffled sound like rolling bb's down a washboard combined with the sound the mechanical fan makes at a cold start.
I have not check the torque converter bolts yet. I supposed it could also be the cat, but I passed emissions last time OK - would the cat rattle a little then stop once it warmed up? If you guys have any ideas, I'd really appreciate hearing them, thanks!
