Kidding aside, looks like a great trip. I gotta think Tom is about to toss the towel in..... busted D44 ring and pinion????? That sucks.

A bad day wheeling is better than a good day at work.

I will have the gear swap done by noon and will get back with the guys for Hells Revenge.

WOW a gear swap on the trial talk about hard core. I just helped a guy do one in his garage and didn't find much enjoyment in it. Really not looking forward to doing mine.

Frank Z
March 30th, 2007, 07:23
It wasn't rally a gear swap, it was more of a get the ring gear out and put the rest back together kinda thing. I'll have a pic of the pinion up later on.

so you drove out under front power only then?

Frank Z
March 30th, 2007, 08:49
Yep, we took bypasses when we could and only had to strap tom's rig one time, Even then he could have made it himself with a bit more speed on the approach, but no one wanted to see him do more damage. We had already spent 4 hours getting his rig torn down and put back together as it was. We made it all the way back to center of town before the driverside rear bearing siezed up.

I got the first batch of pics loaded at Imagestation, yeah I know you gotta join to see 'em. I wasn't in the mood to load a few at a time on photobucket though.
Here's a link to the first 84 pics...

Moab1 28 (third pic in the slide show) is very nice. How did you take it?

I can take B&W pics with my digital camera. I think most digital cameras can do the same thing.

I want to say thanks again to all that helped tear the axle down on the trail and forfeit running the rest of the trail to make sure I got out OK.

It was a good time and the company was even better.

Cool video. I like the place where you get the right rear tire a couple of feet in the air.

Man, I really hope to make the trip with the 'Springs guys in May.... I gotta get back there again!

Nice diverse group of rigs you had go with you on this run Frank. Is that an old Defender 90 I see? I'd hate to try to get parts for that in Moab though...

I believe it was a Range Rover. The two Brits that ran Fins & Things and Hell's Revenge with us had it shipped over from England for their 30 day U.S. vacation. it was powered by a recently installed GM V-8 Diesel.

Deb and I were just talking about this trip and she said it was the pics of the scenery that really convinced her to go out to Moab the first time. Seeing it in person made her want to go back for this trip. She's absolutely right. Yeah the wheelin' is beyond compare, but this is why we wheel to begin with...

Well after fighting with the video editing software I've been using...I gave up. I'm using some different software now and although the DVD's it produces look great, the . WMV files aren't very good. I'll keep trying to post some better videos as time allows, but for now you're stuck with this...

Would you believe I lifted it out with my left arm?

Maybe the strong winch on the left front corner helped too.
