don't use synthetics in the AW4, just stick with Dexron III/Mercon

Yea, synthetics in the auto have had a real mixed bag or results from totally destroying the tranny to no change, I'd go with normal ATF for it.. sorry, but I have never owned an auto tranny myself in over 30 years so I can't be any more helpful other than to mention there have been problems with those who switched.

I've heard bad things about synth in the AW4.


Since we're on the topic - what's the consensus about putting synthetic in the 231? I just picked up some Mobil1 that says dexIII/merV.

i've been using amsoil in my tranny, transfer case and axles for 6,000 miles and noticed a smoother ride and 2 mpg improvement
