Blew up the ring gear

Took the XJ out for a test spin, before next weekends trip to Crozet.
Hooked up the front, and pulled a dig in the gravel and lo and behold, busted the ring gear.
Sure glad it happened today and not the first hour on the trail.
ARB is reinstalled, just need to button it up. 4 1/2 hour surgery to replace the 5:38's with a set in the garage.

Now if I can only figure out where all the pieces go.

Time for a bigger front axle.

Downside to Low Pinion I guess?

Yeah, that's my thought. It looks like a tooth 180 degrees out from the major damage in the photo let go. And that chunk took out the rest. Pinion didn't fail, was just nicked up, nothing came off it.
I'm sure the atlas had nothing to do with it.

It's back together, (with new Ring and Pinion) and works again, at least till it breaks. Time for a 60/9 hybrid.
