I don't know what's more disappointing - the fact that Hillary is considering running, or the fact that she just MIGHT have a chance!

Here's the gig - everyone send a cheque for five to ten cents to her re-election campaign. Since it costs an average of TWO DOLLARS to process a cheque (as I recall, it's been a while since I looked into it,) this should result in a net DRAIN upon the "war chest," and should kill off some of that dosh she's got lying about doing no-thing...

I suppose that's true. However, I haven't seen any postpaid envelopes soliciting donations from the Democrats lately - I usually put a few ductile iron washers in there and send it back. I'm amazed I'm still on their lists!

I think it's fun to get an envelope from them, stuff it with iron (which I usually have lying about anyhow) and make it cost them a couple bucks for postage.

Every now and again, it's also a good way to get rid of those lead bricks I've got lying about (a couple hundred pounds' worth...)

You're not the only one to do that: http://www.vertical-visions.com/_temp/postagepaid/index2.html.

Yep - and pretty much every ZIP code has a post office in it. Convenient, no?

The Violence Policy Centre, the Brady Campaign, and other such organisations have somehow gotten the hint (I don't include my return addy...) and I think it was because I decided to take about 20# of lead bricks, cast them into .38 calibre SWC bullets, and mail them in bulk.

"I don't think you're fully aware of who you're dealing with here!"

Since I decided to enclose the cast bullets in plastic bags, there was no real danger of "leakage." I even left it open and sealed it on the counter in front of the Postal People (they know I'm good for a laugh, and don't really care, as long as SOMEONE is paying the freight!) so there wouldn't be any trouble with it leaving.

I like to find out what it costs to ship this stuff back to them anyhow - I don't think I've ever had it cost less than $30... I'm a CREATIVE SOB - and I got this idea long before I saw that page.

What all have I sent back with postpaid envelopes?
I've done tyres, cut into small (about 3" square) bits.
I've mailed old B&S engines that were beyond rebuilding.
Lead bricks - as bricks and, rarely, as bullets.
Engine parts that I hadn't taken to the scrapyard yet (ever get rid of something really fun that way - like a crankshaft? I have...)
I once cut up a whole lawnmower I needed to get rid of, come to think of it...
Scrap pressure bottles that were condemned (with holes drilled through them, natch...)

So, does anyone else have any fun ideas? I'm limited to "scrap on hand," but I'd like to hear what everyone else is thinking. I just always seem to have a load of ductile iron washers lying about (and Heaven knows where I got them, but I've been moving them for years...)

Looks like Rudy is getting his ducks in a row for a run. Bad part is both are staunch gun control supporters or anti 2nd amendment.

Yeah, we need a candidate who is against gun control and and who doesn't think burning tires for fuel is a good idea for paper mills whose smoke and stink blow westerly (guess why many Vermonters are not exactly ecstatic about miz Hillary?).... While we're at it, how about someone who knows how to run a budget surplus? Hey, I've got it: you guys only think you're conservatives. The man you really want is...drumroll, please.... HOWARD DEAN!

Why would anyone vote for a woman presidential candidate who stayed with man after he cheated on her? Her balls are fake.

Many years ago, when I was a poor student living in an apartment in NYC, I would get my Con Edison bill (electric for you furriners), which for a one room apartment was a little higher than the bill my parents got for their whole house in Connecticut....and I would go over to the windowsill and sweep the month's accumulation of soot off it into the envelope. They always cashed the check, of course, but I thought it was a nice idea to give them back a little of what was theirs.
