So back in the day after buying my dream Jeep, driving it back from Atlanta, and then driving an additional 7 months I finally got around to 'changing' the transfer case fluid. I pulled the plug and a few drops came out. DOH! I filled her up and have been driving it ever since.

That was almost 2 years ago now and I know that I should get the t-case rebuilt (it's a 241OR). I would love to do it myself, but wouldn't want to try it by myself (alone). So, if there's anyone who's done this before would give me a hand, I would jump at the chance. Other than that, does anyone know a place in town (Colorado Springs) or in the area where I could take it to have it rebuilt? I would plan on pulling it myself to save some coin.

Thanks!

Precision Standards on E.Polk St. They're located in the building that FN Jeep used to be in. They're in the phonebook or www.dexonline.com (http://www.dexonline.com)

I could give you a hand with it if you wanted to attempt it yourself. I've been in 3 different 242s and am getting ready to do an SYE on my 231.

They're really not that hard to do.

Joe

Later,
JoeI just replaced the rear output shaft in my 231. The old output shaft was giving me some problems. After getting the new shaft cut and drilled (on my drill press) for my RE H&T I noticed just how lousy of a job I did drilling out the first shaft by hand. Lesson learned, I'll never do another one on the jeep. I'd rather tear into the case to remove the shaft and get it set up or even yank the case and toss it on the drill press. The new shaft went in without any problems and I have zero vibes now. Food for thought.

I ended up pulling it out and taking it to Precision, they didn't find any problems so they're going to seal it back up and I should have it back tomorrow or Friday.
