I might be able to make it for Friday. I want to try out the new lift and tires. There are still some things that I need to address before then. I will let you know as it gets closer.

I'm being a pansy, but I doubt I wil make it to any wheeling trips for quite a while, probabaly not until mid winter or so. My jeep is in bad condition and I'm working slowly to get it working (and maybe looking) the way it used it. I'd rather not abuse it until it's all good again. I can always drive up and tag a long though. _nicko_

You have to have a fully registered jeep to enter paragon correct?

MeWantSnow
September 4th, 2003, 06:11
I've never seen them check for inspection, insurance or registration. You do need to leave your drivers license at the main office while your on the trails though.

I am not sure, still having rubbing issues. Waiting for shackles and coil spacers to come in. Hopefully they will be in today and I can throw them in. In process of fixing my driveway, it got washed out from the storm last night. I have a three foot drop by twenty foot long "hole" where the old driveway was that I got to get filled in. Hopefully everyone faired out alright. How about you Chris(CHW)? I remember that creek that runs through your property.

Sat/sun is fine. Not sure about the registered jeep, i dont think you do, but there is parking for trailers. As far as the license thing only the group leader needs to leave it.

You guys are getting me very tempted to get out of the armchair and get onto the trail (admittedly, I have wheeled twice before, but ít's been 2 years since my last trip)

Of course, since I'm fully stock plus skids and recovery points, I'd need to know that I won't have to sit on the sidelines due to lack of "hardware requirements".

Rob

edit: my best day (if I do make it) would be Saturday - gives me time to rest up a bit before heading back to work on Monday.

rob, I was just out to Paragon last weekend, and I had 3 or 4 stockers that I was leading around...they all had a blast!! with skid plates, you won't have a problem...for the harder stuff, alot of the trails had bypasses. Plus some of them are just small loops off the main trail. I say definatly try to make it out there!!

Rich

Where in NJ are you anyway?

i'm not sure about that. last time i was there (a few months ago) everyone in my group had to leave their license.

I don't think I can make it after all... with preparations for Moab & then moving, weekends are a hot commodity. I got alot done on my Jeep this weekend, but now I'm to the point where the front bolts on the leaf springs aren't budging so I need to figure something out fast, and even then I have alot of small items to take care of before it is road-ready, let alone trail-worthy. Have fun!

I'll be at the campground Thursday afternoon, and will be ready to wheel on Friday. Is there anyone else going to be at the campground Thursday afternoon? Ben, what time are you going to be at the campground? I hope to have my wench plate made by then.

I know there's stuff for stockers out there - did Jeep 101 back in 2001 with BMJA (heard about it, decided to go) - I was more wondering if the Saturday runs were going to require more hardware than I had. It sounds like I shouldn't have too much trouble keeping up then.

I'm planning on trying to make it - don't see a problem right now, but there's always the possibility of a "brush fire" (that's the technical term :D ) at work. With a littel luck, I will be albe to make it.

I will have to check out Paragon's website though - this leaving your license is news to me.

Rob

P.S. I'm in Hunterdon County - near "Mike in NJ"

Rob:

Glad you're planning on going - sorry I won't be there to say hello (deep into Moab maintenance mode). Plenty of stuff to do at the park, at all levels, you should have a blast with those guys.

BTW, the best way to get there from our neck of the woods is I78 West past Allentown to Rt. 100 (Fogelsville) exit. 100 till it ends at US309 (make left). 309 North through Tamaqua, eventually you'll see signs for I81 North, go a few miles (and a couple of exits) until the Rt 924 exit. Make a left - Paragon turn (left) is a couple of miles down (their website has detailed location).

Usually takes me about an hour an a half to get there.

Have a nice run. Catch up with you sometime.

I was kind of figuring on going out 78 - last time I went out, I went up to 80, and went in from that direction. That (and the fact that it took a while to find the unmarked entrance once I got into the vicinity) made for a long trip.

Thanks for the tip.

Gina and I will be there late friday night. Can't burn any vacation this close to the wedding so we're not leaving NoVA until 4:00 or so. Granted that is if I get my truck ready in the next 8 hours LOL. I'll be there though, unlikely I'll wheel on sunday as we'll have to get back home that day to prep for the week before our wedding. See you all there,

The only day I would be able to make is Sunday as well. My wife blew the motor on her car so if I break the Jeep (our only running vehicle) she will kill me, but I have been wanting to get up there for a while now. I went up for the Neuroc event last weekend and that only made me want to go more.

Anyone know the name of the campground that everyone caps at for the park?

Rob Mayercik
September 12th, 2003, 05:21
Ok, it's time for dumb question #4 (to the power 9):

Seeing as I've never met any of you folks, who should I look for when I get up to Paragon tomorrow morning (Sat)? Alternately, what rigs? Look for the NAXJA decals, or something more distinctive?

Also, I keep looking at the weather maps, and the forecast for tomorrow seems to get worse every time I call it up. Are you guys planning on running in the rain, or is there an alternate plan?

Thanks,

Rob

Adam, the campground is called Red Ridge Lake Campground.

Rob, Stroker's rig is big and silver and has a loud exhaust... just look for the XJ's.

Have fun!

Sorry to hear you didn't go out yesterday, maybe you can catch the next one.

I managed to get to Paragon in time to catch the guys before they set out on Saturday, and we had a good time despite the rain.

They very kindly hunted out trails I could handle with my stock '92 (a.k.a. "the street chicken" :D ), and we found a few things they could challenge themselves on while I looked on and enjoyed the show. Ben, Tim, Sean, Gary, Bob, and the others showed me a good time, and I very much appreciate it. Hope the easy trails didn't bore you guys too much. ;)

While most of the trails weren't tough by their standards, I was very grateful that I had all three skidplates, particularly the t-case one - I banged that one a lot.

That reminds me, Ben: did you get a shot at the rest of Sluice on Sunday, or was it gummed up with SWBs again? It'd be interesting to know if you had an easier time of it than those Wranglers we saw on Sat. afternoon.

I was also wondering if "Stubby" (didn't catch his name) is doing all right with his engine. I'm guessing he had the oil changed out by the time I got back home, if not before.

Rob

P.S. Need a new accessory now, methinks: a "Super Chicken" sign I can fly the next time I hit the trail :D :D :D

No, we didn't run sunday everyone had to get home, so i didn't get to do the rest of SLUICE, i'll get it next time. But for now she goes under the knife for a front D44.
