I just got a chrome roof rack, since I have nothing chrome I want to paint it black. How would you do it? I am open to herculiner, line-x or whatever, also I want to cover my warn grill guard with the same thing so they match and look pretty! Thanks to ya'll in advance.
p.s. wasnt sure what category this fell under.

Well the slickness will present a problem, the paint will want to slide off it.

While I haven't painted over chrome before I would suggest getting a nice couse wire wheel and going at it with a vengance to reall rough it up. If it's a crappy chrome job it may even flake off adding bonus.

Not gonna be a twenty minutes with a spray bomb kind of job ;)

I painted my chrome lights on my lightbar and all I did was sand it down really well, two light coats of primer and two light coats of crappy wal-mart flat black and it sill turned out pretty good and after a full day of drying it doesnt come off very easily.

Couple days late but here's what I've done on bikes (I hate chrome). Mix up a 50/50 solution of battery acid and water. Brush it on the chrome and let it sit for about 45 minutes. Then rinse with a lot of water. Dry good and paint. May have to sit longer on better chrome jobs.
